This event - the first of its kind in Bangkok - is focusing on Women in Art.
‘Art + Feminism’ is a month-long international campaign to increase coverage of female artists on Wikipedia. The central New York event will take place at The Museum of Modern Art, with hundreds of other edit-a-thons happening all over the world. 2016 is its third instalment, and this year, Bangkok is participating. Ellen Oredsson (head curator at Rock Around Asia gallery) and Nedine Kachornnamsong (adjunct IT lecturer at Stamford International University) are organising an ‘Art + Feminism’ edit-a-thon on Sunday the 13th of March, 2016, between 2 - 8pm. Come for as long as you can, and help add, expand and translate articles about female artists and art movements on Wikipedia!
Our common goal during the edit-a-thon is to improve coverage and understanding of woman-identifying and non-binary artists and art movements across the world, as male artists dominate discussions about art and art history. This can be by adding new articles about important artists that aren’t already on Wikipedia, by expanding short Wikipedia articles, or by translating articles into other languages.
