Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Dance
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Dance. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Dance|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Dance. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

The subject fails to meet WP:GNG on their own merit and is only notable due to being the sister of a notable person, as evidenced by all available references primarily focusing on her relationship to her sister. And WP:INVALIDBIO explicitly state That person A has a relationship with well-known person B, such as being a spouse or child, is not a reason for a standalone article on A

- Keep: looks like a failure to perform a BEFORE. I'm finding substantial references that are about Rina, not her older sister (Vogue, Deadline). Also, the sources present are not primarily focusing on Rina's relationship with her sister, but instead mention it as a considerable detail. ~ Pbritti (talk) 15:46, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- It's true that Vogue and Deadline have articles about Rina, but even the headlines in both pieces emphasize her relationship to Dua Lipa, which suggests that her notability is primarily tied to her sister. Ckfasdf (talk) 15:56, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- Read past the headline, per WP:HEADLINES. There is SIGCOV of her as a fashion model and actor. ~ Pbritti (talk) 01:00, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- The primary reason she received coverage is due to her relationship with Dua Lipa, as even Vogue pointed out by stating,
She’s self-aware about the nepo-sibling thing
. Also, the lead describes her as a model, actress, and dancer, this means the article should also meet WP:ARTIST and WP:NMODEL requirements, both of which she falls short of meeting. Ckfasdf (talk) 01:25, 29 September 2024 (UTC)- No, it’s enough if she meets GNG, which she does. A subject meeting GNG does NOT have to meet particular requirements of SNGs. That would be absurd. The articles (some on the page and plenty more available online) mention her sister but focus on her and constitute significant coverage addressing Rina directly and in depth, in reliable media outlets, which is precisely what is required. -My, oh my! - Delete or redirect to Dua Lipa. There isn't much coverage of her as someone other than Dua's sister. Frost 15:47, 28 September 2024 (UTC)

- Comment I stumbled upon this article as I was deleting articles created by a sockpuppet of Asphonixm but I see the article is being improved and is the subject of this discussion. But if it wasn't being worked on, it would likely be eligible for a CSD G5. Liz Read! Talk! 00:18, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Liz: If we compare the state of the article since it was last edited by the sock and after the involvement of multiple editors, I do not see any substantial edits made on the article. The changes made so far seem to include removal of maintenance tags, fixing minor errors like references, paraphrasing sentences, switching "British" to "English", and adding categories—none of which amount to substantial content contributions. Therefore, Asphonixm's sock remains the major contributor. Ckfasdf (talk) 05:50, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- I am the one who added sources to the page (yesterday, I think) and I am sorry but it was a significant change. I did it to prove she meets GNG. Who is the "major contributor" is not what matters, what matters is whether there is/are (a) "significantly edit"(s) by other user(s). -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 09:31, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- I'm surprised to see Liz suggest CSD 5 eligibility extended until recently in the face of demonstrative notability and involvement of other editors (myself included) well before the sock was caught. Mushy Yank has made such substantial edits in the last 48 hours that I wonder if Ckfasdf believes that a sock only needs to be a majority contributor for CSD 5, rather than the only major contributor. ~ Pbritti (talk) 11:04, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, but I don’t think Liz suggested eligibility extended; quite the opposite, I would say (Liz clearly indicates the page is being improved), and her note is just for information, to prevent any CSD nomination, or at least to make things clear. Best, -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 12:21, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

- Membership in the DCI hall of fame is the greatest honor one can achieve in the activity.
- Also I edited the article to include additional references such as his listing in the Vanguard Hall of Fame, a bio in GPG Music, and Phantom Regiment's announcement of when he joined their staff.
- Myron was a person who avoided the spotlight but was still well known and recognized in an activity that itself has very little outside coverage. He dedicated over thirty years of his life to pushing the artistic boundaries of this activity and deeply shaping the individuals who participated in it with him. You can see evidence of that in his DCI Hall of Fame Induction video at 2:15: "The feelings of love and admiration were truly palpable to all in attendance (of his Vanguard Hall of Fame induction ceremony). Indeed on that Saturday morning, Vanguard Hall was packed with friends and former members from Myron's history in drum corps." Also in Halftime Magazine's epitaph, Santa Clara Vanguard alum, Jeremy Van Wert quotes Rosander as saying, "If you think I’m here about winning a championship, you are dead wrong; I’m here because I care about the men and women you will become in the years after you leave Santa Clara Vanguard. I care about the human inside the uniform."
- Especially considering the relative obscurity of the drum and bugle corps activity, I believe this depth and high level of recognition constitutes notability, per Wikipedia guidelines. Mrengy (talk) 02:15, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- Currently, all of the sources, aside from his obituary and Hall of Fame bio, are from places where he was employed. That simply does not cut it for a biography. For an example of a person involved in drum corps that is also notable, see Bill Bachman. The difference between Rosander and Bachman is that Bachman has tertiary and secondary sources from reputable magazines and scholarly journals that discuss his work. Why? Pointless, neglected unreferenced list of redlinks --Altenmann >talk 15:52, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- Comment. In theory this could be a successful list. There are plenty of sources in google books to compile such a list, and properly source it. In other words, it is rescuable if someone feels like rescuing this list. It also wouldn't be a tragedy to let this one go until someone want to recreate it and work on it.4meter4 (talk) 16:05, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- I very much doubt that any of them have reasonable coverage of ballroom dance albums. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate catalog. Unless it is a glossary, we don't list redlinks. What really have a chance is List of salsa albums. For it, there is even Latin Grammy Award for Best Salsa Album. And there are plenty of album articles such as Salsa Big Band. I very much doubt that ballroom music has a comparable level of coverage. --Altenmann >talk 16:17, 18 September 2024 (UTC)

- Delete. First off, "social dance" is a very vague term. Second, there's nothing here that one or more categories can't do just as well, provided there are any notable ballroom dance albums. See Category:Albums by genre. Clarityfiend (talk) 10:25, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

I cannot find any WP:SIGCOV in WP:SIRS to meet WP:GNG (much less WP:NORG, which this subject must meet). Sources in the article are all either affiliated or primary sources, and the only source I came up with in my WP:BEFORE are WP:TRIVIALMENTIONS. Dclemens1971 (talk) 18:03, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
