This is currently postponed until there is more active support from people who are going to produce for this. I had hoped there would be more interest/support in this from the WP:Film veteran editors.
The Golden Hollywood Contest (1927-1963)
This is a planned contest/editathon to be held for American cinema between 1927 and 1963, the so-called "Golden Hollywood" period of Classical American cinema. The focus will be on quality, improving core articles on actors, directors, films and related content and fleshing out stubs/start class articles and cleanup on articles which perhaps should be a lot better than they currently are. It's still in its infancy and unsure of when it would be held as I might be busy with other things, possibly December/Christmas time, but if you would be interested in participating and see potential in this we can get the ball rolling as soon as possible. I think it's an area which could potentially generate a lot of interest and something which could be run fairly regularly, though I may not always be the one to judge it.♦ Dr. Blofeld10:31, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Any article with a ghastly tag or totally unsourced – 5 points
Minor cleanup of article references/prose without much expansion – 5 points
New article – 10 points (As the purpose of the contest is partly towards reducing the stub count, please try to ensure that new entries are minimum 1.5 kb of readable prose.)
Destubbing an article (minimum of 1.5kb readable prose in total) - 25 points
A minimum 3 kb expansion and full article cleanup -25 points (if the article was a stub you'll only get the 25 points once)
Feel free anybody to develop this list with actors, directors, film personnel, studios, films, related articles etc. Keep entries in alphabetical order.
Sign up here if you think you might be interested in participating in the contest/editathon, helping draw up the framework for this or just support the idea. I need to see a show of hands to decide whether or not this would be worth pursuing or not!:
Support the concept. My editing (as ever) would be as a wikignome rather then attempting to amass points - so many others are better at things like that :-) MarnetteD|Talk20:33, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Support the concept although I'm not a huge contributor to the Hollywood "golden age" articles other than GWTW. My energies are more focused on various lists, templates and British/American New Waves. Betty Logan (talk) 19:08, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be beyond the Star Trek work for the 50th by then, besides which - there would be some crossover between the two anyway so some of the source materials I have from the 1960s may actually be of use. I'll see if I can sort out the Jeffrey Hunter bio at least. Miyagawa (talk) 11:50, 24 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I would have a primary interest in wikignoming, but also have interest in westerns and old sci-fi, neither of which might be technically "classic," also interested in certain historic epic-type films such as the old Ben-Hur or Lawrence of Arabia-type stuff. Yeah, OK, if something whinnies... or has a rocket ship... (and would prefer to avoid drama, Dr. B, so don't fret). Montanabw(talk)17:50, 24 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm more knowledgable about foreign films from the era than Hollywood ones, but I'm interested in trying to help out in little ways towards the drive. Moisejp (talk) 14:15, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
