Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Edit warring
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.<!-- Template:uw-3rr --> Saucysalsa30 (talk) 05:27, 27 December 2022 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Editor's Barnstar
Great work on expanding Swarnakumari Devi, which I came across in NPP and expanded a little, but your further expansion and cleanup is very impressive! Bungle (talkcontribs) 18:04, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Bungle, and that book you found is awesome - your work to expand the article also inspires me that much more in my goal to become an NPP reviewer. Thanks again, Beccaynr (talk) 18:52, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes, i'll see an article in NPP that I want to research/validate further and may find interesting/helpful sources which I think will help assure the article staying. It's great you found the book even more useful though to expand upon! Bungle (talkcontribs) 20:57, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I like your approach, Bungle, and it reminds me of AfD when trying to expand articles either during or after discussions - I didn't realize how well it works with NPP until I saw your work, so now I am even more motivated to study up on NPP. Cheers! Beccaynr (talk) 00:56, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Too much AGF

Hello. I sincerely thank you for your civilized approach on Wikipedia. But I believe you assume too much good faith and it can have a negative effect even on your own work (by wasting your own time which could have been better spent to expand the content of articles), not to mention the community and the project as a whole. Please see how one person has gamed the entire system for one AfD: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Khabat4545 and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mahsa Amini. Not only he has created the article, but also voted keep for at least 7 times! He also canvassed some other users. Regards 4nn1l2 (talk) 14:45, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 4nn1l2, I very much appreciate you reporting the socks - I had concerns about socking but had not felt I had enough evidence to filed a report at SPI. And in the AfD, I did cite WP:GAME and ping an admin, although because of the way the article had been created, the apparent evasion of consensus, and the development of what I described as a WP:TNT-worthy POV fork. And I contested the move of the article during the AfD. We are now in the midst of another discussion more specifically focused on preventing disruption to the encyclopedia, and I am taking a 'warn/educate first, then block if disruption continues' approach, but if the community consensus prefers another option, then that is what it will be, and my hope is that my effort to educate and inform about our conduct policies will help protect the encyclopedia in the future. However, I appreciate your feedback, and please always feel free to visit my Talk page with any comments you may have. Thank you, Beccaynr (talk) 15:36, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification

The birth year of Swarnakumari Devi is 1855. This information is absolutely correct. It was written on the basis of history of Bengali literature books, Bengali Wikipedia, Bengali wikisource. Knowing the real facts I created the respective article. Wikifulness (talk) 09:50, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wikifulness, thank you for following up. I included 1855 and 1856 in the article because we have reliable sources for both dates. The biographies of living persons policy says in the WP:DOB section: If multiple independent reliable sources state differing years or dates of birth in conflict, the consensus is to include all birth dates/years for which a reliable source exists, clearly noting discrepancies. In this situation, editors must not include only one date/year which they consider "most likely", or include merely a single date from one of two or more reliable sources. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again, Beccaynr (talk) 14:26, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ed Douglas

Hey User:Beccaynr, thanks for your insightful comments on Lalita Iyer's AfD. Could you evaluate Ed Douglas's notability? He has authored about seven to eight books on the Himalayas. However, I failed to collect any citations to substantiate his prominence. Does he qualify for a page? Last week, I created a page for one of his books titled Himalaya: A Human History. RPSkokie (talk) 06:07, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RPSkokie, thank you for your comments as well, and I would be happy to look for sources - I can plan on searching the Wikipedia library, where I have access to the Taylor & Francis database, which can be particularly good for author sources. Cheers, Beccaynr (talk) 06:17, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Beccaynr Thanks. RPSkokie (talk) 06:52, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi RPSkokie, I found book reviews for Tenzing: Hero of Everest: A Biography of Tenzing Norgay on ProQuest, and have been trying to find more accessible links, e.g. Publishers Weekly. The book is being adapted into a film, e.g. Sydney Morning Herald, Rock and Ice, Variety, UKClimbing, by the same director of the film Sherpa, where Douglas is described a "key character" (this film also has reviews). There are also reviews for his book Regions of the Heart: The Triumph And Tragedy of Alison Hargreaves. I also found a 2017 interview with some secondary content in UKClimbing that could help develop a BLP. I think searching for reviews for each one of his books will take some time but WP:AUTHOR notability seems supported by his collective body of work subject to multiple reviews and other indications of notability. I suggest creating a BLP draft for now - I would be happy to add information from reviews and help develop the article, and articles for his books can also be split into separate articles as support per WP:NBOOK develops. Beccaynr (talk) 01:10, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Beccaynr Thank you so much for your assistance. Now I have the outline for the BLP draft. RPSkokie (talk) 02:14, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Beccaynr I am considering putting together a page titled "Tenzing: Hero of Everest" first. After that, later on, I shall get started on Ed Douglas' page. The purpose of contemplation: Venkat TL's words "As for books I believe at least 2 notable books are needed before an author's page can be created." at Talk:The Concept of Active Defence in China's Military Strategy. RPSkokie (talk) 13:12, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Tenzing: Hero of Everest clearly has WP:NBOOK support for an article, especially with the planned film, and there are reviews already found on ProQuest (if you have not yet signed up for the Wikipedia Library, I recommend it). There appears to be a lot of information related to this book, so I think it is helpful to create this article first. I have approached author BLPs in both directions, e.g. Paula Richman (book articles could be created), Susan Kingsley Kent (same), Jen Manion (book articles written first), because the notability of the books and author are supported by the sources, not the existence of separate book articles. However, I think it is ideal to create separate book articles for notable books when possible, and this is part of why I talk about my "neverending to-do list". Beccaynr (talk) 13:52, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
RPS since I dont know this author or the book, I have no opinion on the notability. Yes multiple (i.e more than one) reviews in reliable source would be needed for it to survive. Venkat TL (talk) 14:07, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adani Group

Hey User:Beccaynr, there is a similar editing incident happening at Adani Group as we once faced at Byju's. COI IPs are heavily editing the page. How should we go about dealing with them? RPSkokie (talk) 15:36, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RPSkokie, I tend to ask for page protection at WP:RFPP when there is persistent disruptive editing from IPs. In the request, it may help to describe a little bit about what the disruption is, e.g. are the IPs repeatedly adding unsourced information? It can also help to first leave a template warning message on the Talk page of the IPs explaining what the problem is with their editing and asking them to stop. Beccaynr (talk) 15:54, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Beccaynr Yes, these sets of IPs repeatedly adding unsourced information and company website links. I have inserted several warning messages into their respective talk pages. But there are too many of them, and most of them are partially blocked. RPSkokie (talk) 16:07, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
RPSkokie, what you just wrote seems like a solid report for WP:RFPP. Sometimes it can take a few attempts to get long-lasting page protection, but it seems to be a good idea to make a request based on what has been happening. Beccaynr (talk) 16:13, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Beccaynr I lack the knowledge and tenacity to make my point and take the conversation forward at WP:RFPP. You witnessed that during Lalita Iyer's AfD discussion. RPSkokie (talk) 16:23, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can try to make a report at WP:RFPP, although it seems that you have the best knowledge of the situation, so I encourage you to add relevant information after I make the report. As to the Lalita Iyer AfD, that article was a poorly-sourced mess when nominated and it took me a long time to find sources (and your concern about the independence of the reviews seemed reasonable to me as a general matter, and it was something I had considered when adding sources), so I thought it was a fine nomination and a good discussion, and it helped the article be further developed, which from my view, is always a good outcome at AfD. Beccaynr (talk) 17:02, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
RPSkokie, I have posted the request here, and please let me know if you have any questions. Beccaynr (talk) 17:14, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Beccaynr thank you. RPSkokie (talk) 03:24, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Improving the Giving circle article

Hi, User:Beccaynr, I noticed you created the Impact100 Wikipedia article and was curious if you'd be open to collaborating on a related article. The Giving circle article has a flag, lacks secondary sources, and has too many external links and further reading entries. I drafted a new proposed sandbox to address those issues, and others have integrated their suggestions too. I won't edit the article myself due to my COI. Would you be open to review the sandbox/ publish the content if you agree with the improvements? Appreciate any feedback or collaboration in advance.--Chefmikesf (talk) 18:42, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chefmikesf, that sandbox draft is impressive, and I would be happy to participate in expanding the Giving circle article. I have multiple projects that I am currently working on, and reviewing sources and making revisions will take some time, so I suggest that you also post a request for assistance at the Talk page of WikiProject Organizations in the meantime. Cheers, Beccaynr (talk) 19:20, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, User:Beccaynr, Thank you for your edits and suggestions thus far! I will make a post on WikiProject Organizations, though it looks like the project talk page if fairly inactive with responses. If I don't get a response on the project, when do you suggest I circle back with you?--Chefmikesf (talk) 23:47, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Chefmikesf, I also suggest that you post an edit request on the Talk page of the Giving circle article, which will draw additional attention. I have already added the Wikiproject Organizations banner to the article Talk page with a request for attention, so posting your request will help point editors to the suggested edits in your sandbox. As for following up with me, please note that your request will remain on my Talk page for awhile, and you can prevent this discussion from being archived by adding a new comment within 30 days. Cheers, Beccaynr (talk) 15:11, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, User:Beccaynr, I wrote out the requests and posted on the talk page. Also, I'm going to add the edit request tag as you suggested. Would you be open to reviewing and completing request 5 and 6? Both requests are pretty simple and remove extraneous content from the article. I appreciate your help so far, hope you have a great Thanksgiving!--Chefmikesf (talk) 18:43, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, User:Beccaynr, Just wanted to check in again. Do you have any additional time to review another section of the edit request?--Chefmikesf (talk) 17:42, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Chefmikesf, thank you for the reminder - I meant to reply earlier to mention that from my view, request 5 will take some time, because it requires reviewing every source (and finding the ones without hyperlinks) to determine whether they can be incorporated into the article or should remain in the Further Reading list. Editors sometimes add useful sources to the Further Reading section that can help develop the article, so I do not want to remove them without a careful review. I did make a first pass at request 6, related to the External Links section, because that is easier to sort out, and left a note about it on the article Talk page. Cheers, Beccaynr (talk) 17:57, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Beccaynr, Thanks for the quick reply. Regarding the further reading section, I will go ahead and find the links to the request, so its easy for you to review. Second, I like what you removed from the external links section, are you open to adding one more link? -- What is a Giving Circle --Chefmikesf (talk) 18:23, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Beccaynr, I just add the rest of the links to the Further reading section! Also, I just took another look, The Structure and function section might be a straight-forward place to start reviewing well sourced content. Thanks for your help! Best -- Chefmikesf (talk) 22:22, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the cookies.

It really made my day.. it is a huge learning curve and that is part of the fun.. plus running into some great folks and long time editors!Flibbertigibbets (talk)

Cheers, Flibbertigibbets, and there is a huge learning curve as well as great people here. My unsolicited advice is to keep asking questions, use edit summaries, and consider enabling navigation popups in your preferences. And once you meet the criteria, apply for access to the Wikipedia Library, which can be an excellent resource for developing gems in the rough :) Beccaynr (talk) 02:06, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please help me with yhis draft? FloridaArmy (talk) 23:34, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'll be happy to, FloridaArmy, although it may be a little bit before I get a chance to focus on it. Cheers, Beccaynr (talk) 01:37, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Barnstar of Diligence
Thanks for the time and effort you have taken to save the Marilyn Gayle Hoff article. I will withdraw my afd nomination. –CaroleHenson (talk) 03:26, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, CaroleHenson - between the name variations of the subject and the various databases and search engines needed to track down sources, this article has been a challenge, but well worth it! Cheers, Beccaynr (talk) 03:35, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I also want to thank you for improving the article!! You made it so much better! JaneClawsten (talk) 15:56, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It was a team effort, JaneClawsten, and thank you very much for creating the article :) Beccaynr (talk) 01:32, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Beccaynr and JaneClawsten, I nominated it for DYK at Template:Did you know nominations/Marilyn Gayle Hoff. SL93 (talk) 16:08, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Categorization of people killed the Mahsa Amini protests

I removed those pages from Category:Mahsa Amini protests because they're already in the subcategory for the victims. The parent category is getting overpopulated as it is so I think it's articles should be separated per WP:DIFFUSE. Charles Essie (talk) 05:40, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Charles Essie, the subjects have articles because they have become symbols of the ongoing protests, and received wide coverage as more than victims or people killed. The nature of the coverage is why it does not appear redundant to include them in the protest category. When reviewing the guidance from WP:DIFFUSE and thinking about the sources generally, it seems to be a non-diffusing category. I am not particularly familiar with the inner workings of the categories system, but I am familiar with the content of these articles, and it seems helpful for readers and appropriate based on the content to keep these articles in the larger category. Thank you, Beccaynr (talk) 05:51, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Charles Essie (talk) 06:10, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
continued on article Talk page

someone put a Cn tag on when she got her MSW. Since I was the one that added the info, I found the source easily only for you to remove it. The information is there, in the first paragraph. Stop removing the citation. Amd stop claiming it is unverified. It IS there. BostonMensa (talk) 06:29, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BostonMensa, I removed the citation because the source does not appear to be reliable, due to its inaccurate information and speculation about Sela. It is not a news source with editorial policies, and there is no indication about where the information was obtained. The source is in the article for the information it can reliably confirm, which is the She's Gone exhibit. However, it does not appear usable for other information about Sela, and I have not found a reliable source to indicate when she graduated from school, so I removed the unsourced content from the article. Please do not continue edit warring the unreliable source into the article. I think we can find a better solution if there is a better source available. Thank you, Beccaynr (talk) 06:44, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

When you stop removing the source, I will stop reinstating it.— Preceding unsigned comment added by BostonMensa (talkcontribs) 06:29, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I'd made a quick attempt to save it from A7, but your edits put it far out of reach. Star Mississippi 14:36, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers, Star Mississippi - the article was brought to my attention by a comment added to an AfD you recently closed [1], and there is a little more (available via Google Scholar) that could potentially be added to a History section, but I would first like to write a BLP of the author [2], [3] of the study. Cheers again, Beccaynr (talk) 15:19, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh thanks, that's fascinating. I had created the stub during Pride 2021 in an effort to further catalog the Lesbian Bar Project organizations but info was thin. I don't see the overlap that the commentor did in terms of nominator/PROD, but perhaps I'm missing a name change on that. Have a great day. Star Mississippi 15:57, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mei-Ching_Fok

At Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Mei-Ching_Fok you may wish to bold your comment to make it stand out, currently it is more easily missed. CT55555(talk) 17:47, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi CT55555, it is good to see you back around, and I like the new sig. In the AfD, I initially !voted to delete, but then unbolded it after realizing based on other comments that we don't yet have confirmation that the request is from the subject, so I am essentially neutral pending confirmation. I have added a further clarification to my note following my updated comment. Cheers, Beccaynr (talk) 18:04, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, got it. I've operated on the assumption the self-request is true. Would be a major plot twist if it isn't and I'd firmly reverse my decision! I'm dipping my toes slowly back into AFD. CT55555(talk) 18:10, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers again, CT55555, and I think we need clarification that the request is from the subject to prevent gaming of WP:BLPREQUESTDELETE - without a need for confirmation or credible indication that the request is from the subject, anyone could claim to be the subject and essentially short-circuit the deletion process. Beccaynr (talk) 18:22, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. CT55555(talk) 18:25, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

systemic bias

Hello, just wanted to say thanks for dropping those links to the community insights on the talk page for wp:bias. I hadn't known about those. I've been trying to get some more up-to-date info about bias at Academic studies about Wikipedia. I don't know if I could interest you in contributing anything there, but if you did I'd appreciate it. I'm pretty concerned that Wikipedia's coverage of its own bias is...not too good... Thanks either way. Larataguera (talk) 23:59, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Larataguera, and thank you as well - when I reviewed the Women in Red press page, I found this: Computational Linguistics Reveals How Wikipedia Articles Are Biased Against Women (MIT Technology Review, 2015), which may be helpful for the academic studies article, and The Wikipedia Library may have more studies available. Thank you for letting me know about the article - I have been trying to focus on finishing up a draft article, but I take various breaks to work on other projects, and I am happy to add it to my rotation. Cheers, Beccaynr (talk) 04:55, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Creative Writing Program"?

Hello @Beccaynr, I have seen your recent edit to the Chitra Bannerjee article. According to the manual of style, in most cases we don't capitalize academic departments or programs in Wikipedia. Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Capital_letters#Institutions Also, "University of Houston's" is a possessive, rather than the forbidden contraction. I have a vague memory that you once mentioned a good source for finding science fiction book reviews? I"m trying to establish the notability of an obscure science fiction author. Any tips? CT55555(talk) 18:16, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi CT55555, it is probably the Internet Speculative Fiction Database, and Locus is sometimes helpful. I have also noticed it can sometimes be helpful to specifically search the Gale databases instead of using the broader WP Library search function. DYK for Marilyn Gayle Hoff

On 23 December 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Marilyn Gayle Hoff, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that American author Marilyn Gayle Hoff was honored by a Fourth of July parade float as an unsung hero? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Marilyn Gayle Hoff. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Marilyn Gayle Hoff), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Seasons greetings

Hello Beccaynr. Thank you for the very nice fairy banner on my Talk Page. I haven't learnt how to create such banners yet, so instead I will just do a plain text greeting :) I hope you have a wonderful holiday season, and all the best for 2023. Regards, MrsSnoozyTurtle 10:30, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, MrsSnoozyTurtle! I tried to work with formatting from other banners, added colors and images from commons (inspired by some of the cover art for books by Gladys Lucy Adshead, but adapted for my wikifairy ways), and never quite got the images to align :) For future reference, a variety of holiday templates are available here:
