Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to :Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. Thanks for your message, there are still some problems.

 • If you have a conflict of interest, you must declare it. If that's the case let me know and I'll advise further
 • you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that he meets the notability guidelines for creative professionals. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to him or an affiliated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the he claims or interviewing him. Many of your references are not suitable and make the article promotional, for example "widely acclaimed Carpet of Joy" is sourced to an interview with him, which can't possibly objectively show that it really is widely acclaimed. Similarly He is known for his prominent artworks and installations, which have been displayed around the world is sourced to a puff piece which doesn't say that, let alone confirm it, and seems to be a personal opinion piece by "Johnny ML" I have no idea who the author is or why I should care what he thinks. I'm guessing he's not a professor of art or a major critic.
 • At present it's a promo for him. You need to stick to facts, not opinion or loaded comments on how famous he is, and make sure your text shows how he meets the notability criteria I've linked above. Just listing the works he's madee and claiming they are famous isn't enough
 • Many of your references do not meet the independent verifiable sources criteria I've linked above, often quoting him or giving reviews or personal opinions rather than facts.
 • If you published as it stands, it will be nominated for deletion as non-notable, or as advertising Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:45, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Jimfbleak, thanks for the quick reply. Should I continue working on improving the temp page? SerTanmay (talk) 07:59, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Jimfbleak:, I've significantly improved the temp page, expanding the article while citing additional references and removing the promotional tone. I hope it is good enough now. Additionally, I would like to clarify that I have no conflict of interest; I'm simply a part of WikiProject Goa, where we aim at creating and improving articles about Goa and Goans. Kerkar is a notable artist here in Goa, and I hope that the references from news articles from around the world are enough to meet WP:CREATIVE criteria (I've added fresh info about how his works have been featured at the Sculpture by the Sea exhibition). I believe that the article needs further expansion for readability by a better mind than my own (I have no experience in art or describing it), which I know will be done by Wikipedians in the future. Thanks. SerTanmay (talk) 11:32, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the above. I can't see what's changed. I looked at the first para again, and I see that the promotional claims "He is known for his artworks and installations, which have been displayed around the world" are sourced still to the mysterious Johnny ML's puff piece and a promo for an event about them. Neither are acceptable sources, and their opinions don't make the statement true. It's not a matter of adding more references, it's about having good independent third-party references and actual verifiable facts, rather than sweeping generalities and opinions Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:02, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, Jimfbleak, but in the very next line I have clarified with an example, verified by an editorial from a newspaper, the Jagran Post. Anyway, I've moved some of the additional citations (and the more reputed ones) to the very top, and updated the lede overall. I also apologise for the usage of the primary source you mentioned. If the tone of the lede is still troubling, I can change it, but I believe that sufficient good sources have been cited, if you glance across the References section. SerTanmay (talk) 16:50, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it's looking better, but I'm at a loss to see why the phrase ... and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2018 need sfive references for one fact. The idea is to find one good source for the fact, which isn't likely to be challenged anyway, rather than add every mention or review you can find. Let's take another claim "He ran a successful hospital and private practice", which has two references. One doesn't say that, the other is an interview with him, and shouldn't be used anyway. Even if the claim of success had a proper source, it would still be an opinion rather than a fact, unless accompanied with criteria for success and comparative data to support the claim. prestigious Sculpture by the Sea is again necessary gilding. As I keep saying, you need to stick to real facts, sources that meet the criteria I've listed above, and text that shows how he meets the notability criteria I've linked, rather than a list of everything he's done Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:19, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jimfbleak: Thank you for patiently helping me out with this draft. I was a bit occupied IRL, but I've currently worked on improving the article. I believe the lede should be enough to prove WP:CREATIVE. Also, I've used sources from local publications, which I assure you are reputed here. As for what you pointed out about the Career section being "a list of everything he's done", it's simply because I'm not sure how much importance must be given to any one of his works (as described before, I lack experience in art). Thanks. SerTanmay (talk) 16:17, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
