The Man Booker International Prize is a global literary award that recognises one writer for their achievement in fiction. Established in 2005 as a bi-annual prize to be given to a living author one time only who has published fiction either originally in English, or whose work is generally available in translation in the English language.
The nominees first the inaugural Man Booker International Prize were revealed at Georgetown University, in Washington D.C.. Sponsored by the Man Group plc, the winner will receive £60,000 at an announcement to be made in London, England in mid 2005.
