List of townships in Missouri
The U.S. state of Missouri is divided into 1,378 townships in 114 counties.
In Missouri, only counties of the third and fourth classes, which are those with a total assessed valuation under $450,000,000, may have township governments, but are not required to.[1][2] As of 2021, 20 of the 114 Missouri counties had township governments, containing 285 townships.[1] Township governments are considered subcounty general purpose governments, but not municipal governments. Townships in the other Missouri counties are geographical areas only, without township governments.[2]
