Description
The source of the Indus River is Lake Manasarovar; from which the river enters the Indus Basin, where its tributaries Nubra and Zanksar rivers join it in Kashmir. Then it flows just south of the Karakoram range where the Shyok, Shigar and Gilgit rivers join it. It continues southwards in Pakhtunkhaw region and is dammed at the Tarbela Reservoir before its tributary, Kabul River, joins it near Attock. It is then joined by the Kurram, Tochi, Gomal and several other small tributaries. From there it enters Punjab, where the flow of the river becomes slower, and is joined by its major eastern tributary, Panjnad (confluence of Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej and Beas) while from the west it is joined by Kundar, Zhob and several small tributaries from the Balochistan region. The river then enters Sindh region where it is also joined by several small tributaries from Balochistan before it ends at the Indus River Delta.
