- Complete with turrets, stables, a 60-foot Grand Hall, a wine cellar, a shooting gallery, three bowling alleys, and the first elevator in Canada, the castle was the largest private home ever constructed in North America.
Please rewrite and source these claims for this article. –Pomte 05:10, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
The following doesn't make sense -- the timetable and dollars don't work: "During the Depression, Toronto increased Casa Loma's annual property taxes from $400 to $1,200, and Pellatt—already experiencing financial difficulties—was forced to auction off $1.5-million in art and furnishings for only $250,000 during bankruptcy hearings. Sir Henry was able to enjoy life in the castle for only ten years, leaving in 1923. Pellatt also operated the building for a short time as a luxury hotel. During the late 1920s Casa Loma was also a popular nightspot. The Orange Blossoms, later known as Glen Gray and the Casa Loma Orchestra, played there for eight months in 1927–1928. Shortly thereafter, they went on tour of North America and became a major Swing Era dance band. The city seized Casa Loma in 1933 for $27,303 in back taxes."
A) The Depression began in 1929. If Pellat left in 1923, it has nothing to do with the Depression. B) A tax increase from $400 to $1,200 is insignifcant in the scheme of things here -- we are told that some of the furnishings sold for $250,000. C) At $1,200 per year, the 1933 seizure would have been for more than twenty years of taxes. I don;t have the knowledge to fix this, but someone should.

Image Layout
[edit]Can someone please improve the layout of the images I just added? I am at a loss as to how to make the flow of this article behave, but I do feel the images add a lot to the content and I'm reticent to remove them altogether. Severoon 09:12, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Shouldn't a picture of the stables be included? Canking (talk) 00:16, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Hidden Rooms
[edit]You mention the tunnels, but there are three other hidden rooms/passages in the house.
Use of copyrighted materials in article
[edit]I just chopped out a large section of the article which was copied, verbatim, and without any attribution at all, from http://www.casaloma.org/Media/Kit/PressDisplay.asp?Display=Press&PressReleaseID=34. Because the source did not grant permission to use their article in this manner, it's not allowed to include it like that. Snippets for fair use are acceptable, but including the entire text isn't. Please read WP:NONFREE before thinking about restoring the missing text. Thank you. --coldacid (talk|contrib) 03:04, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
- Please note that it is also a case of plagiarism. However in this case it is also a copyright violation, which IS BLOCKABLE on Wikipedia. --coldacid (talk|contrib) 03:07, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
You mean the PRESS RELEASE? Isn't allowed to be cited verbatim? You're kidding right? That's what press releases are for! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gettingitrightthefirsttime (talk • contribs) 13:10, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
New, violation-free article
[edit]Due to copyright violations, the Casa Loma article is being rewritten. If you can provide edits which are not infringing, please edit Talk:Casa Loma/Temp until such time as it's good enough to replace the last unblanked version of the article. Thank you. --coldacid (talk|contrib) 09:58, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your attention to this. I have identified the point where infringement was introduced and deleted all subsequent edits. I've merged your temporary version into that older article. The current version will undoubtedly need some clean-up, but at least it should be legally ours. :) (Just a note that text duplicated at http://www.galenfrysinger.com/ontario_toronto_casa_loma.htm is not a problem, as it indicates it is copied from Wikipedia.) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:57, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Casa Loma -> Hill House
[edit]Casa Loma means Hill House (i.e. a house called hill), not "House on a hill". On the other hand, "House on a hill" would be "Casa en una loma". I'm changing it. --JanusDC (talk) 22:37, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Casa Loma and its role in ProFunc
[edit]Can anyone add this section... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.203.194.50 (talk) 02:21, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Clue (game)?
[edit]I toured Casa Loma back in 1983.
I distinctly remember our guide saying that Casa Loma was the house modelled by the board game Clue.
If so, shouldn't that be in the article?--Locutus1966 (talk) 07:23, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Legal protection?
[edit]Hi! I'm rewriting the article of Casa Loma in french wikipédia and I was wondering...is there any legal protection of any kind (federal, provincial, municipal) of this house/castle? I'm actually not very familiar about any government aspects in Ontario. Thanks!!--Thomas131313 (talk) 04:27, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
