Disclaimer
[edit]I've spent hours on this today sorting out an encyclopaedic list of winners, etc. I'm still not absolutely positive that all winners are up, particularly where the 1980s are concerned. There may lso also be more spelling mistakes - I caught a few in the McDowell source after double-checking - and some of the sources online disagree with each other. For example, Donna Karan & Louis Dell'Olio apparently went into the Hall of Fame on their second round in 1982. They would have had a Return Award if the pattern of award giving was maintained, and then in 1984, they would have gotten the Hall of Fame award, which makes more sense given that I have them down as winners for 1984 as well. But yes, there may be a few inconsistencies and (hopefully minor) mistakes and certainly some oversights, there were quite a number of 1980s winners omitted from McDowell's Directory so I had to do a lot of Googling/web searching to clarify & doublecheck other 1980s winners. If anyone has any information or solid sources (ie not slightly unreliable online bios like fashionencyclopedia.com), please feel welcome to correct. Mabalu (talk) 00:33, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
QUERY RE INFORMATION SOURCE
[edit]please state where you have received (and with whom you have verified) the information for this list. thank you ```` — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.148.66.92 (talk) 18:51, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- The article is largely based on the list in McDowell's Directory, which appears pretty accurate although, as I stated above, I have noticed some spelling errors and slight inconsistencies. It was published in 1984, the year before the awards were officially closed. As with ANY Wikipedia article, all facts should be double-checked before accepting them, and I would encourage people to double check the 1980s names using Google News, etc. I am personally confident that the list is accurate, as the person who created the article and did additional research on the 80s winners to verify, but I would still double-check before using my own research from 3 years ago in a current publication/text as new information has a way of emerging.
