- First section (unnamed):
In the first paragraph, first sentence, remove the words "Israeli" and the second half of the sentence ("; as well as construction of gender identity in the media.") so that the complete first sentence reads: "Dafna Lemish is a media researcher in the fields of children, youth, and leisure culture.
- In the second paragraph, remove the first no-longer-accurate sentence: "She serves as the Dean of the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts, at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale." and replace it with accurate statement: "She is the Interim Dean and Distinguished Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at the Rutgers School of Communication and Information in New Brunswick, New Jersey."[1]
Citation 1:[1]
- Remove the fourth sentence entirely ("Lemish is Associate Dean for Programs at Rutgers University in New Jersey") as that is inaccurate.
- Add this as the new, accurate second paragraph: "An International Communication Association (ICA) fellow, she is an author and editor of numerous books, journal articles, book chapters, encyclopedia entries, reviews, and commentaries on children, media, and gender representations." [2] She is also the founding editor of the Journal of Children and Media.[3]
Citation 3:[4]
- Add this as the third paragraph in the first section: "Lemish's research interests include children and media, gender representations and identity construction, qualitative methodologies, and feminist media studies. Her more recent research projects include the role of mobile media in parent-child interaction; grandparents mediating their grandchildren’s media use; and the lived experiences of academic immigrants." - In the Biography section:First paragraph, first sentence, remove "in Haifa" and replace with "and raised in Israel." so it reads, "Dafna Lemish was born and raised in Israel." After this sentence, replace "She worked at Oranim College teaching media literacy, and later directed the Institute for the Research of Media and the Family, a non-profit organization later integrated within the Israeli Women's Network in Jerusalem, then ceasing to exist independently. From 1990-1996 she was a Senior Lecturer at The New School of Media Studies, Academic College of Management. In 1995 she moved to Tel Aviv University, as part of the founding team of the Department of Communication, where she taught until 2010 and served as Chair for 5 years." with the more complete:
"She completed her BA degree in Geography at Tel Aviv University, her MA in Communication at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and her Ph.D. in Communication at Ohio State University. Upon return to Israel, she worked at Oranim College and later directed the Institute for the Research of Media and the Family, a non-profit organization later integrated within the Israeli Women's Network in Jerusalem.[5] From 1990-1996, she was a founding member and a Senior Lecturer at The New School of Media Studies, Academic College of Management.[6] In 1995, she moved to Tel Aviv University as part of the founding team of the Department of Communication, where she taught until 2010 and served as Chair for five years."[7]
citation 6:[7]

- Biography section, second paragraph, first sentence: add "while on Sabbatical at the Center for Media and Child Health at Harvard University," after "In 2010" so that first sentence reads: "In 2010, while on sabbatical at the Center for Media and Child Health at Harvard University, she accepted a position as Chair of the Department of Radio, Television, and Digital Media at Southern Illinois University, later becoming the Dean of the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts. [8] In the second sentence, after "Since 2016," replace "she serves as an Associate Dean for Programs at the School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University, and was promoted to Distinguished Professor in 2019. She has been an active member of the International Communication Association since 1980." with the accurate statement: "In 2016, she moved to New Jersey to serve as an Associate Dean for Programs at the School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University and was promoted to Distinguished Professor in 2019. In July 2022, Lemish assumed leadership of the Rutgers School of Communication and Information as interim dean until July 2025. [9]

- Please clarify the purpose of removing the word "Israeli".
- If the subject is Israeli, that is a basic piece of encyclopaedic information.
- If the subject is not Israeli, obviously an alternative nationality could be inserted instead.
- The rest of the material that you are hoping to introduce looks rather as though it would belong on a profile on the website of an educational establishment, but it doesn't seem clear that that level of detail is appropriate for an encyclopaedia.
- Also, having looked at your user page, would you please clarify if you are a paid third party advocate working for SeabrookCommLLC or an employee of Rutgers SC&I. The statement on your use page appears most unclear on this point. Axad12 (talk) 09:38, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- Not done: Declined as virtually the entirety of the sourcing is directly from the subject and thus is non-independent, for which see WP:RS. Also, no response to the 2 queries above, posted almost 2 months ago. Axad12 (talk) 21:10, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Axad12, I didn't get a notice that there was a new message until today regarding Dafna Lemish's image being approved. I both work for Rutgers SC&I and Seabrook Communications LLC is my sole LLC. I have been asked to update the very out-of-date and inaccurate page for Dafna Lemish and I have painstakingly gone through each section and uploaded and documented all the requested edits. Lemish is Israeli and that may remain if it is important. Please let me know my next step to getting this approved and inserting now-approved image:

Request update to correct inaccuracies to Dafna Lemish profile
[edit]Part of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. |
- First section (unnamed):
- In the second paragraph, remove the first no-longer-accurate sentence: "She serves as the Dean of the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts, at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale." and replace it with accurate statement: "She is the Interim Dean and Distinguished Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at the Rutgers School of Communication and Information in New Brunswick, New Jersey."[1]
Citation 1:
- Remove the fourth sentence entirely ("Lemish is Associate Dean for Programs at Rutgers University in New Jersey") as that is inaccurate.
- Add this as the new, accurate second paragraph: "An International Communication Association (ICA) fellow, she is an author and editor of numerous books, journal articles, book chapters, encyclopedia entries, reviews, and commentaries on children, media, and gender representations." [2] She is also the founding editor of the Journal of Children and Media.[3
- In the External links section, please remove the current three bullets entirely: "Official website – Southern Illinois University." "Are there gender differences in media effects? Dafna Lemish, PhD, speaks about her research on gender and media, Boston Children's Hospital." "Ad Hoc Committee on the Internationalization of ICA – Dafna Lemish (Chair) with members (p. 22–30) International Communication Association 2013 Annual Report." and replace with one accurate bullet: Official website — Rutgers School of Communication and Information [30] Citation 30: https://comminfo.rutgers.edu/

TheBlueHeronofHopewell (talk) 23:55, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- Partly done. I have implemented these changes except that:
- I've not implemented
she is an author and editor of numerous books [etc]
because that appears to be promotional. - I've not implemented
She is also the founding editor of the Journal of Children and Media
because that didn't seem to be borne out by the source supplied (as far as I could see, Lemish wasn't mentioned in the source - although if I have missed something there then please let me know). - While making the edits I also took the opportunity to remove an amount of unsourced material from the article. I also removed the list of published works, which does not seem to be encyclopaedic info.
- As a general observation, the secondary source that you point to (Lemish's profile at the School of C&I website) is not admissible as it is non-independent. Such profiles are usually either written by the subject or have been drafted based on information provided by the subject.
- As a general point, the elements of text that I did not implement also seem to have been lifted directly from the profile mentioned above. Please note that lifting material directly from another source is a copyright violation (see WP:COPYVIO), so even if the material had been admissible it would have needed to have been reworded. This had no bearing on the non-inclusion of the relevant text, but I mention it here simply as a point for you to consider when making any future edit requests.
- Hopefully the above notes are of assistance.
- Kind regards, Axad12 (talk) 04:40, 1 November 2024 (UTC)

- Note: It tends to be easier for reviewers if the request is formatted using the cite tool, if you're able to do this it'll be quicker and easier for this to be reviewed. Thanks! Encoded Talk 💬 09:20, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

- Isn't this request just a duplicate of a request that was already declined above? Axad12 (talk) 20:34, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- I've been following the guidance of Jake Wartenberg. He suggested that I request a very small edit. I'm trying to update Dafna's page since it's woefully out of date. Do you have a better suggestion? I've been trying to follow all the rules and make this right for a long time now. I would truly appreciate your advice. Thank you! TheBlueHeronofHopewell (talk) 00:23, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- But this isn't requesting a very small edit. It's requesting the same very large edit that you requested above on 30th July and which I declined above on 8th October. So, unfortunately the result here is the same as it was on 8th October, i.e. Not done.
- I assume that the very small edit request that you refer to is the one currently 2 above this one with the title "Request update to correct inaccuracies to Dafna Lemish profile", is that correct? Is so, that looks a lot more reasonable. Axad12 (talk) 04:06, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- The smaller edit request has now been mostly implemented, for which see the response directly below the relevant request. Kind regards, Axad12 (talk) 04:46, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, yay, progress! Thank you! I have another question since you've been so helpful. How can I make acceptable small edit requests to update the "Biography" and "Awards and recognition" sections to make them current? I appreciate your help! TheBlueHeronofHopewell (talk) 12:42, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- Well, I would suggest as follows:
- One) each edit request should concentrate on a relatively small number of changes (e.g. 5 max).
- Two) each change must be sourced to a fully independent and reliable source.
- Three) material to be added must be of encyclopaedic value and not promotional.
- Four) with regard to awards/recognition, they must be significant and awarded on at least a national level (e.g. not awards given within a specific university or department).
- Five) as pointed out previously, no copyright violation (or close paraphrasing from other sources).
- As long as a request complies with those points then I don't imagine that there will be very much of a problem in implementing future requests.
- Hopefully these notes are of assistance, Axad12 (talk) 15:59, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- Very much so, thank you. I will work on doing as you suggest. TheBlueHeronofHopewell (talk) 18:48, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
