Contradictory statements about Lakota dialect in 'reception' section
Hi, maybe I'm reading this wrong but this seems to be very contradictory:
"Some of the criticism was inspired by the fact that the pronunciation is not authentic, since only one of the actors was a native speaker of the language. The dialogues in the native language have been lauded as a remarkable achievement."
I guess the written dialogue is separate from how it is delivered on camera but it'd be great to get more information on this FuunnyFaces (talk) 00:07, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Lots of fringe bias in this in regards to the white savior theory
As a native american myself i do not think this film is a white savior film. Up until 2020 this film was not criticized for this new term called "white savior" films. Yes the language was historically inaccurate but thats it. This is a fringe opinion that doesnt belong in the movie reception. The movie was highly praised by way more people including native americans. I remember going with my grandfather who was a REAL lakota and he loved it. It seems that was put in there to fit a fringe political bias that not many will agree with. Not to mention it was very unprofessional in its editing. I would like to add to the "white savior" reception section that although very few thought the movie was a white savior film it was also highly praised for decades before this very new criticism of the movie. Before i edit this i will leave this up for discussion for 2 weeks. If no one contests and comes up with a better argument i will go ahead and edit the reception section. I will not remove the white savior opinion but i will add more links and articles to back up the praise and love this movie has by REAL critics. Not just some person who got angry about the film and decided to put in their fringe perception of the movie after they watched it. Not to mention its pretty racist to call someone a "white savior". If you added any other race besides white it would he taken down and shunned immediately. Didnt know it was a bad thing for white people to help native americans?? I agree, it seems excessive to dedicate a whole paragraph to this opinion of one writer, referencing 3 paragraphs in a larger commentary. I just shortened it, others may do so further as they see fit. –CWenger (^ • @) 01:43, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
