This is directed to Purplebackpack89. First, thanks for your note, posted in May but which I only saw today. Secondly, I couldn't figure out how to post a message to just you on your Talk page; hence, I'm here. Third, you instructed me to paste this -- {{Requested move/dated|Jake Zeitlin}}

Jacob ZeitlinJake Zeitlin – -- to explain why I thought this page should be re-named. Basically, it's because, as I understand it, Wikipedia biographical pages are supposed to be titled with the name under which a person was most commonly known or referred to. In Zeitlin's case, as far as I know *nobody* ever called him "Jacob," although his birth name was Jacob Israel Zeitlin. I do note that the Dictionary of American Antiquarian Book Dealers has him as ZEITLIN, Jacob "Jake", but UCLA Special Collections uses "Jake Zeitlin Papers" as the official name for his archives, and similarly the subject entry for his UCLA Oral History interview is under "Zeitlin, Jake." I'm pretty sure that his own writings (magazine articles and such) were by-lined "Jake" also, although I haven't done a thorough check on this. Will stop writing now, since I'm not even 100% you'll see this! Relisted. BDD (talk) 18:56, 27 December 2012 (UTC) Bookbuzzard (talk) 00:14, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[EDIT: It seems like I didn't do the "request to move" correctly, as after I posted the above I was informed that it had been moved from "Jacob Zeitlin" to "Jacob Zeitlin," i.e. no change. So I've gone back in and edited, and probably screwed it up in a different way. Sorry; I'm new at this.

FYI, to post a note at my talk page, you go to this link, and click the link at the top of the page marked "New Section". I've also left a welcome template on your page with more helpful links. As for Jake Zeitlin v. Jacob Zeitlin put me down as neutral pbp 00:26, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Dicklyon, we actually posted at the same time as I got an edit conflict! The older name seems more popular circa 70+ years ago, surely the trend over the 80's-90's is more relevant? Zarcadia (talk) 01:56, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Now you see why I didn't vote... pbp 02:08, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't (no sarcasm intended). Please explain. Zarcadia (talk) 02:11, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't vote because there is a reasonably strong case for either name pbp 17:01, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Nom said as far as I know *nobody* ever called him "Jacob,"; obviously nonsense. If there's a proposal to invoke commonname on the basis of a recent small margin for the nickname, I'd oppose that, too. The actual name is fine if the nickname is not overwhelmingly more popular. My support was weak anyway, I just played the results as I saw them. Zarcadia (talk) 03:16, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
