Removal from American agnostics

[edit]

Recently, this article was removed from category American agnostics. Can someone cite this or was it wrong? WilliamKF (talk) 20:50, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea why anyone would remove that category - Draper was one of the originators of the Conflict thesis and he took the side of evolution in the 1860 Oxford evolution debate. There can be no doubt that he was either agnostic or atheist. Hence I have restored the cat. SteveBaker (talk) 12:44, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Teach evolution, learn science: we’re ahead of Turkey, but behind Iran . Might be helpful for the article.--Stone (talk) 19:36, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We have an article about Antonia Maury - whom we link to as one of Drapers children. However, according to our list of his children, the only "Maury" was "Virginia Draper Maury" - and the only "Antonia" was "Antonia Draper Dixon". The article on Antonia Maury is a mess - but I think it's saying that Antonia Maury's mother was Virginia Draper. So it follows that the Antonia Maury who was an astronomer was John William Drapers granddaughter - not one of his children.

I'm fixing up this article accordingly...but it would be nice to have someone with more time than me fix up the Antonia Maury article too.

(The Notable Names Database backs up my findings, above). SteveBaker (talk) 12:26, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
"Daughter" was my typo after double rewriting the nndb page. They've got a summary on her as well [1]. Materialscientist (talk) 12:29, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am the program coordinator of the ACS-National Historic Chemical Landmarks program. I have updated the references to ACS-NHCL web content and ACS Presidents content, as those pages are being replaced. I have also corrected factual information (Draper's term as ACS President and the subject of the Landmark) relating to these sources. KLindblom (talk) 20:48, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
