Comments:
- We could probably upload a non-free image of him since he is deceased but I understand if you don't want to do that. Some people are hesitant to upload non-free images.
- I've uploaded several in the past. If I find a good image I'll add one but the online ones all seem to be watermarked and many of the offline ones I've seen are not very good quality scans.
- Remove stub tag.
- "nominally attending" I'm not 100% sure what that means.
- Amended.
- "but he then got a night-shift job" change got to something else?
- Is "took" OK?
- That works. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:43, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- "when he lot that job" change to lost
- Amended.
- "garage firm" Does that have a specific meaning or does it just mean the firm was based out of his garage?
- I amended this after looking at some more soures.
- "was runner-up in the Empire Amateur Billiards Championship" already linked earlier
- Not sure if this was changed, but it only seems to be linked here and in the lead.
- "completing his national service" That's military right?
- Normally it is. I've wiki-linked the term, and will see if I can get any more info about what Kennerley's service consisted of.
- He was a munitions worker; I've added that with references.
- "The Billiard Player, official magazine of the Billiards Association and Control Council" I wonder if the "official magazine of the Billiards Association and Control Council" part shouldn't be placed earlier in the article where the The Billiard Player was first mentioned.
- Done.
- "With the revival of snooker in 1968–69" How did it get revived? What happened to it?
- I've expanded on this - which shoudl help non-snooker-fans!
- "knockout tournament" link that to Single-elimination tournament if that's what it means.
- "Round-robin handicap tournament" link to Round-robin tournament
- Change "Tournament Not Held" to "Tournament not held" four times in the timeline section.
- Also change "Not Held" to "Not held" twice.
- Amended per the four points above.
- Are all the tournaments in the table cited in the body?
- They weren't, so I've added references to the tables.
- In lead: " but making the championship record break of 472/" Remove /
- Done.
- Body doesn't say where he died.
- Added.
- Any more personal or later life? Probably couldn't find anything?
- No, his obituary in Snooker Scene makes a passing reference that after his first heart attack, he "derived the bulk of his income from a job unconnected with the game" without further details, and I didn't find any other soures.
- Some of the stuff like "Birmingham Gazette" in the reference section could probably be linked
- Done.
Spot-checks:
- "Billiards Expert". Evening Sentinel. Stoke-on-Trent. 9 February 1936
- Looks good.
- "Birmingham Man as Billiards favourite". Evening Despatch. Birmingham. 6 March 1936
- The article says "One of the spectators at the final, Mr. J.C. Pitchford, employed Kennerley, who had relevant experience, as an engineer in his garage firm Richard Lloyd." but I don't see in the ref where it says it was an engineering firm or that he had relevant experience?
- Amended the text as mentioned above.
- Maybe I'm missing it but I still don't see in the sources where it says it was an engineering firm? Is it in the offline source? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 13:30, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- Amended the text as mentioned above.
- Everything else for that ref looks good.
- "Kingsley Kennerley's Fine work". Evening Despatch. Birmingham. 30 August 1939
- Looks good
- "Snooker". The Glasgow Herald. 13 May 1954
- Article says "Kennerley won both his qualifying matches and joined the 1954/1955 News of the World Snooker Tournament" but ref just mentions one person he beat?
- The Times source had the other reult, but I've changed it to a sure that verifies all of the details (including that there were three players in the qualifying competition)
- "UK Championship History". World Billiards. Archived from the original on 5 January 2021
- Looks good.
- Draper, Roger (28 October 1980). "Davis so quick to make an impression". Coventry Evening Telegraph
- Looks good.
- Greaves, Paul (15 March 1982). "It's that man Davis again". Birmingham Evening Mail
- Looks good.
Great research! Nice article. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:16, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- Many thanks, WikiOriginal-9. Hopefully I've addressed your points above. Let me know about anything else that is required. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 11:49, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- Everything looks good now. The only thing left is a comment I just made above "Maybe I'm missing it but I still don't see in the sources where it says it was an engineering firm? Is it in the offline source?" ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 13:38, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- WikiOriginal-9, yes, but I've now added the clipping for this article ("Billiards champion married"), which mentions "Richard Lloyd and Co., the Birmingham engineering firm". Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 11:10, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
