Name
[edit]Even the 2008 Olympics official results site mistransliterated his name [1] --Rumping (talk) 23:28, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
This person's family name is actually Чахкиев, not *Чакхиев. See for instance this video, where the Russian-speaking commentator (as well as the caption on the screen) clearly say Чахкиев. I'm renaming the page and making appropriate changes in the text. --Malatinszky (talk) 16:51, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Rakhim Chakhkiyev → Rakhim Chakhkiev – Overwhelmingly WP:COMMONNAME, per Google results; BoxRec; and all English-language media. – Mac Dreamstate (talk) 17:54, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 19:32, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
- The reason given for the move (at the time) was WP:RUS, however. Is there a conflict? — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 18:20, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Mac Dreamstate and Andy M. Wang: No conflict. It was simply a move made a long time ago when the boxer in question was not as well known within English media, and this is WP:ENG after all. The move should never have been made in the first place. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 18:28, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
- Support. Where there's a common English name used in reliable sources we should go with that, even if our Russian transliteration rules say something else. — Amakuru (talk) 18:28, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
