Template:R to talk page
Appearance
When used with the "Redirect category shell" (Rcat shell) template:
This page is a redirect. The following categories are used to track and monitor this redirect:
|
- Template Redirect category shell may be used to add one or more rcat templates, along with their parameters and categories, to a redirect. For more information, see the documentation page below.
When used by itself:
- From outside all talk namespaces: This is a redirect from a page outside any and all of the talk namespaces to a talk page. This redirect page must be outside the talk namespaces.
- Note: If this redirect is in any talk namespace, then it will populate Category:Pages with templates in the wrong namespace instead of the expected category.
This template should not be substituted nor used to tag soft redirects. |
Purpose
[edit]This redirect category (rcat) template sorts redirects into the following categories:
- Category:Redirects to talk pages – for pseudo-namespace and cross-namespace redirects, and
- Category:Unprintworthy redirects – only redirects from the main-article namespace (mainspace)
- In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Mainspace redirects that target pages in the talk namespace are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy.
Please do not alter the printworthy settings of this rcat without first notifying the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, who are responsible for any and all materials, including redirects, that go into a printed version of Wikipedia. |
This rcat is should not be used to tag redirects that are in any talk namespace. If placed on a talk-page redirect, it will not populate the expected category(ies); the redirect will instead be sorted to Category:Pages with templates in the wrong namespace.
Usage
[edit]- Apply this rcat to a redirect page (not a talk-page redirect) in the following manner:
#REDIRECT (full target talk page name)

- and when the redirect is in article mainspace, printworthiness should also be tagged:
#REDIRECT (full target talk page name)

- Template Rcat shell is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
#REDIRECT (full target talk page name)
R to talk page
- This is in accord with instructions found at Wikipedia:REDCAT.
- Use this rcat to tag any redirect from a page outside of the talk namespaces to any page in any of the talk namespaces. This rcat should never be used on any redirect that is itself in any talk namespace. Examples of talk pages are:
