Request for edit summary
[edit]Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 24% for major edits and 19% for minor edits. (Based on the last 106 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 15:00, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Belizean Kriol language and North American English
[edit]You added the North American English category to the Belizean Kriol language. In case you have not noticed, Kriol is not a dialect of English, but a separate creole language, most of whose words (and a few other features) are derived from English. Are you sure you want to add it to that category? Jorge Stolfi 04:45, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
History Merge
[edit]I merged the history from Zury Ríos Montt into Zury Ríos Sosa. As the Sosa article is currently a redirect to the Montt one, you can move the article between the two without problem by using the move tab. Please contact me if I did anything wrong, and also feel free to request future history merges either using WP:SPLICE as you did here, tagging the target with {{db-histmerge}} or contacting me directly. Thanks! AmiDaniel (talk) 03:44, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi B.U. Are you really a unicyclist? Thank you for taking the time to help me with the time stamp and links info. That was very kind of you. I am getting quite fed up with that Frank guy. I have one more question, someone or thing from wiki is asking me about that formal wedding picture of Jerry Weller and Zury Rios Montt with both their parents. I do not even remember how I was able to upload it to the wiki site. I have the picture downloaded on my laptop and onto my flicker photo page. I found it by doing a google image search. I found no copyright or other identifying names on the picture. It seems to have run in several Guatemalan or other Spanish newspapers. How do I tag this photo? There is a message on my talk page that says it will be deleted if I don't tag it? Although it seems it's been uploaded and on the site for much longer than 7 days. Thank you again for the help, and for any further help you might be. Kankakee VoiceKankakee Voice 06:20, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
A Request for Your Feedback
[edit]Hello; I noticed you have recently contributed to the current events portal and thought you would be interested in looking at a proposal for redesigning the page. If you can, please take a look at a redesign proposal I created and provide some feedback on its talk page. So far, very little feedback has been received, and so the additional input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. joturner 23:08, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Bolivian Unicyclist, thank you for joining us and expressing your opinion in the Herrera talk page. Your help has been very important in clearifing certain points about the award. It has been an honor to have come across you. Tony the Marine 01:10, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Appreciation
[edit]Thanks for your discussion on Silvestre Herrera's article talk page. The information and discussion you've provided is very good. I do wonder whether the medal had highest precedence during the WWII-era. Is the link you provided a new 2006 (or 2003) law? — ERcheck (talk) 01:48, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the update. I'll check Sgt Herrera's page. Is there any way to access the 1955 law? — ERcheck (talk) 17:18, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'll have to leave it to you (and others) to read the law. Depending on the year that Herrera got the Mexican award, he might fall under the 1926 law. (Can you get that as well?) — ERcheck (talk) 18:03, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for fixing the problems with the article El Universal (Caracas). Links in Ping-Pong virus
[edit]Hello there. Thank you for the links that you have added in Ping-Pong virus. I have, however, removed some of the links from the dates that you added in the reference section. This is because, generally, links should only be made if they are contextually relevant. These date links corresponded with the time I went out and found those reference links, so they had no real relevance to the encyclopedic content. Anyway, I felt you might want to know that. See you! —msikma <user_talk:msikma> 08:23, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

- You have got to be kidding me, Hink. What's the use of creating Zihuatanejo, Guerrero as a redirect to Zihuatanejo and then changing the links to the latter to the former when it's a redirect? It's USELESS. – Chacor 00:57, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- Whoops, I probably should have checked the links. I just assumed that the former links were redirects that Bolivian changed. Hurricanehink (talk) 02:26, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Salvador de Bahia
[edit]Hello there. I'm coming to you because I see it was you who added the section about Brazil on Wikipedia:Naming conventions (settlements). Do you think you could take a moment and fix Salvador, Brazil, move the article to a more standard location? As far as I can see, it's the only Brazilian city currently in breach of that naming convention, but magic admin powers are needed to move it. And, from what I read on your user page, you're probably better qualified than me to decide whether it should be at Salvador de Bahia, Salvador, Bahia, or wherever. I'll be watching the article and solemnly promiss to fix all the redirects. Thanks, Bolivian Unicyclist 18:54, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Done. I've also already fixed all the redirects (there weren't many of them). It should come as no surprise it's the only one with a name not matching that convention; I wrote that convention as a codification of current practice, so most article names would already be following it even before it was written. --cesarb 21:47, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Valencia
[edit]Hola Bolivian Unicyclist, He puesto una nota en Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Countering_systemic_bias#City_names_and_disambiguation_dabs respecto a la situación actual con respecto a los nombres de ciudades o pueblos y las páginas de disambiguation. Cordiales saludos, E Asterion u talking to me? 07:33, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Bolivian Unyciclist,
- I placed a note on the WP:CSD project noticeboard, regarding the current situation of city and town names and their disambiguation dabs. Best regards, E Asterion u talking to me? 07:43, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- Me parece una broma de mal gusto que Guadalajara no vaya a Guadalajara, Jalisco. Si quiere nominarlo a WP:RQM, lo apoyaría sin pensarlo. Un cordial saludo, E Asterion u talking to me? 20:48, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Saludos, E Asterion u talking to me? 22:06, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

English
[edit]In english we say the month first the date November 5, 2006 not 5 November 2006. Go learn english then comment on wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by The 13th 4postle (talk • contribs) 17 November 2006.
- Well, that was obviously an ignorant comment; not only the tone, but also because the European convention -- and note that the English are part of Europe -- is to write the date as 5 November 2006. --Todeswalzer|Talk 04:33, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Naming convention
[edit]HI. I noticed your comments on the DRC election page. I would like to propose a change to the current naming convention for elections. The current convention is:
- Use the format "Demonym type election, date", for example "Canadian federal election, 1867"... (WP:NAME#Elections}
I propose this is changed to allow two alternatives, as follows:
- Use either this form: political division type election, date, or this form: political division election of date. For example, Canadian federal election, 1867 or Canadian federal election of 1867. Where an article has been created using one form, do not move the article to the other form.
This new option would make linking more natural and make the article names more encyclopedic.
Please comment on this proposal at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions#New elections proposal

Using English
[edit]Hello - I'm contacting you because of your involvement with using English instead of foreign terms in articles. A few are trying to "Anglicise" French terms in Wiki articles according to current guidelines but there is some resistance (eg/: "Région => Region"; "Département => Departement"). Your input would be appreciated here. Thankyou. --Bob 16:23, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
hey
[edit]Very good job on the wording of the Prodi section...good looking on knowing the difference between resigning and tendering a resignation although im sure they both result in the same thing wether the president "approves" it or not. I did not like the way you worded the Quebec section. We dont need to know about the providences of canada when we refer to leaders. I wrote it in the same style as "Vice President of the U.S. Dick Cheney" or "U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair." hope you like it but anyway good editing. WikiTony 06:53, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
death
[edit]the rule: * Do not list the ordinary deaths of prominent persons here. That's what Recent deaths is for. Exceptions to this rule are made for persons of extreme prominence, such as Ronald Reagan, John Paul II, or the Queen Mother.
the blurb:
Prime Minister of Chad Pascal Yoadimnadji dies of a brain hemorrhage following a heart attack
is this an "ordinary death?" brain hemorrhage and heart attack? i dont really care if this is included in the current events but i dont think it is unacceptable. notice also that all the "prominent people" listed are white and we are talking about the PM of an african country (im not accusing you of anything)...Think about it... Joe Acanfora
[edit]hello ... thanks for taking the time to consider the subject article. As the original author, I considered whether the proper name of this article should be "Joe Acanfora" or "Gay Teachers Battle to Teach - The Case of Joe Acanfora", and decided on the latter. Since the article cover only a 3 year period and narrow scope of the life of Joe Acanfora, it seemed more appropriate and descriptive to entitle it with the "case" reference and the "gay teachers" reference. If it were on Joe Acanfora alone, it would cover 50 more years of his life and many other topics. What do you think? Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.
For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:42, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. The article Dagblad Suriname has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non-notable newspaper. Article has had no significant coverage and has been unsourced since April 2009.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Koridas talk? 02:53, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
Your contributed article, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Israel). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Israel). If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 05:29, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
