Some time ago I put in a link to the "Other maps" via Template:coor on Template:Geolinks-US-streetscale. For a good reason, I thought. You choose to revert that change. I have now put a link to coor into the heading. If you revert this too, the consequence will be that reverse mapping in WikiProject Geographical coordinates will not work for articles using the Geolinks template. (And it is easy enough to revert or alter. Just change in Template:Geolinks-start.) -- Egil 06:41, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)

FYI there is now a new region field that allows specific, targeted map source files to apply for specific regions. I have updated the above templates with region:US. In addition, the default scale is now influences by the type of a point. -- Egil 16:54, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Haven't had a chance to check out these changes you've made, but they sound great. Sorry for axeing the original "other maps" thing; I wanted to nip that in the bud before you went to the trouble of adding it to all the templates since I wasn't quite satisfied with it and thought we should talk more first. I left a note for you explaining why I took it out and suggested a different way which is basically what we have now.
I like the current way you have integrated your links into our templates; I think it's good to have a few very standard things linked directly, like we have with the mapquest, google, terraserver, and topozone. For everything else, your page is a great, flexible resource. In fact, this might actually be a nicer way to link to your page than links directly from coordinates ala ISBN?
In other news, I'm thinking about suggesting to Ramsey that we move these links out of the external links section and up to the city box for the city pages. I really think they're useful enough to deserve more attention, but we'll see if Mav can be convinced. --Chinasaur 19:19, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Nelumbo

[edit]

If you decide you want to get back into editing, would you please do something about Nelumbo? It has received four edits since you started it back in September, but none have actually accomplished much. It'd be nice to have at least a complete sentence or two. -- Cyrius| 04:47, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Unicode template

[edit]

Hi,

I see from your recent comments on Template Talk:IPA that you were the originator of the Unicode template. There's been some recent discussion on Template Talk:Unicode and Template Talk:Polytonic to the effect that the Unicode template doesn't pick up a lot of unicode characters, and the Polytonic template, although designed specifically for Greek, is actually better in this respect. Do you have any thoughts? rossb 09:56, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Use of color in probability distribution plots

[edit]

Hi. I've moved your comment from my talk page to Template talk:Probability distribution#Use of color, which is where most of the discussion has been taking place recently. I've posted an intial reply there. If you know of a set of "safe" colors, could you bring it to everyone's attention? Thanks, --MarkSweep 02:09, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Amenophis vandal

[edit]

From the links you provided it looks liek most of the vandal's work was on the 19th. He did return on the 21st but was intercepted by Joyous. She would most most likely know more about the vandal from that point onward than I. Also, thank you for your good work in the fight against vandalism. -JCarriker 09:28, Apr 25, 2005 (UTC)

Errata on WB

[edit]

I hope you can be reached here. A significant amount of discussion regarding the Errata module has taken place and I wondered if you had found a new home for the content. A lot of votes suggest moving the content elsewhere and if you've found something, maybe we can settle the VfD. If you want to write back to me, please use my Wikibooks talk page. Thanks. -Matt 04:44, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikierrata

[edit]
Hi Henri, I saw your note about Wikierrata from a year ago on meta. I have also been working on a project like this and put
it under the wikibooks hierarchy: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Errata We're getting kicked off wikibooks now, perhaps
moving to wikicities or perhaps moving to a different infrastructure if a more suitable one can be found. I thought you might
be interested in working on this. Also I thought I should let you know that although I organized the wikibook of errata based
on ISBNs similar to what you proposed, it actually turns out that sometimes corrected printings of books are made without
changing the ISBN, so having a combination of ISBN and printing number is necessary. --Chinasaur 03:40, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for the response. It would be cool to participate in that project.

Yours sincerely, Henri Heinonen. Henri Tapani Heinonen 09:37, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lord Byron

[edit]

You had once expressed interest in the "Lord Byron" being moved to that very name. I've started a request to move but a bunch of stubborn people are intent on shutting me down. Any support you could bring would be helpful. Talk:George_Byron,_6th_Baron_Byron#Requested_move--Lairor 03:00, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think I give up on that one. I don't really care as long as Lord Byron redirects there. Technically I think it should be renamed, and if you have a vote you'd like me to cast let me know. But I'm not going to spend effort arguing with stubborn people when it doesn't really matter. --Chinasaur 03:17, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Monarchrsh3.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Monarchrsh3.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 10:41, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dangling Modifiers

[edit]

Chinasaur, I'm on your side in this debate. Dangling modifiers are always bad style. I do have a question, though. Does your sentence, "In the context of an encyclopedia[,] I don't really understand why that wording is so inappropriate." include a dangling modifier? It might be less awkward as, "I don't really understand why that wording is so inappropriate for an encyclopedia." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.237.132.130 (talk) 22:10, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of section from IOL talk page

Hello. You once recommended that the title of the intraocular lens article be changed. The discussion that followed seemed to give adequate reasons for the title to remain the same. I've removed the section from the discussion. If you have not viewed that part of the discussion, it will still be viewable in the discussion page history. Image source problem with Image:Sutro.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Sutro.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:31, 27 June 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kam Solusar (talk) 23:31, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:27, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
