Ed Gauthier

Ed Gauthier is a writer. editor, musician and cartoonist. Born in Canada after his grandfather moved the family from France, where they had lived for many generations, he moved to the US, where he later attended California State University at Long Beach.

He was co-founder, main songwriter and harmonica player of the Los Angeles area blues-rock band Roadhouse (1978-1983), and does occasional performance art.

Gauthier also served as Editor-In-Chief (1986-1990) of the alternative newspaper Uncle Jam.

He is also a painter, cartoonist, writer and editor. His books of poetry include Taste and Tradition, Style and Substance, and Manners and Motives (many samples of which can be found on the links list below).

More recently, he created the webcomic parody features Mr. Ed Weirdo, and The Bush Leaguers, the first poking fun at the genre of online and newspaper cartoon strips, the second a political satire.

He currently resides in the Central Coast area of California.

NOTE SENT BY ED GAUTHIER TO WIKIPEDIA ON 12/11/07 ABOUT UNFAIR BLOCKING

Attn. Uncle G:

IP address: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:71.117.72.41 Blocking admin: Uncle G Block reason: Long-term vandalism across multiple accounts Block originally applied to: Ed Gauthier Account user name : Ed Gauthier Explanation of why block is unfair: (Explained below)

I was recently notified by friends' emails that several vandalisms occurred on my old Wiki bio entry, but rather than block the vandals' IPs, they instead blocked MINE?! That policy isn't just unfair, it's ridiculously unfair.

It treats the victims like criminals, and rewards the real vandals with the pat on the back that they succeeded not only in getting a Wiki entry erased, but also in banning the writer of said entry.

To top it off, not only is the innocent original writer blocked from fixing his own entry, he's also blocked from helping to edit any other entry on the entire Wiki website. Absolutely outrageous.

As to my particular vandalism/deletion/blocking, I can only add that the situation was made even worse by ignorant comments by certain Wiki staff that my entry was "just an advertisement." An ad for what? Most of the art and writing mentioned on my Wiki entry has been out of print and unavailable for years!

Well, Uncle G, there you have it, for all the good it'll do. Hopefully Wiki will evolve in the future into something other than a large lazy body declaring "that subject entry causes trouble, so let's just censor the trouble by censoring the author."

Thank you for your time.
