January 2024
[edit]Hi Kevin9217! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Mykola Mykolenko that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Kj cheetham (talk) 20:15, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about James M. Brophy (American politician)
[edit]Hello Kevin9217, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, James M. Brophy (American politician), should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/James M. Brophy (American politician).
Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Grahaml35}}

CSD
[edit]Whenever you tag a page for speedy deletion, you should use one of the criteria at WP:CSD. In the case of Lithuanian generals in the Imperial Russian Army, since you created the page and nobody else has edited it, WP:G7 applies. You can tag a page with this criterion using the template {{db-g7}} or one of its many redirects, such as {{db-authorreq}}. jlwoodwa (talk) 19:21, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your clarification.
- Best, Kevin9217 (talk) 23:57, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Category:Lithuanian generals in the Imperial Russian Army indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 05:34, 13 June 2024 (UTC)

Ways to improve Grigory Gorchakov
[edit]Hello, Kevin9217,
Thank you for creating Grigory Gorchakov.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
It is hard to determine why this army officer is considered notable? The lede is too short, but it is not obvious from reading the text why he would have a Wikipedia article to remember him? thanks.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Aszx5000}}

- Hello, @Aszx5000
- Thanks for you response. I translated the article. Even if the figure isn't notable, I think it is still worth keeping the article. What do you think? Kevin9217 (talk) 19:14, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- I have no great desire to remove it (there is no WP:PROMO angle here), but it would be good if you could work out what made him notable (major medal or award or something), and get it into the lede? thanks again. Aszx5000 (talk) 20:18, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Kevin9217: I'm reviewing the article. I've read it twice now, once a several days ago and again today. I don't see how he can be notable. It been two weeks since the previous reviewer looked at it and its not changed since. Its now got a notability tag which means I have got to address it since the process had come full circle. If I don't address it, the next reviewer will need to and there is a WP:NPP sprint on, so somebody will come in the next couple of days to look at it. I don't want to delete, but I don't know what else to do. There must be a core reason that article was written in the first place. I just wish I knew what it was. scope_creepTalk 14:43, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Kevin9217: He is definently notable. He has an mountain of awards but more so he has been awarded the Order of Saint Anna which is a major Russian chivalric award. That alone would have been enough. He has another one which is also as a chivalric, so he is plenty notable. He must have been a major dude when he was alive, to have been awarded both of these and and the rest of them. Kudos for translating the article. scope_creepTalk 15:17, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

Ivan Grauzhis moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Ivan Grauzhis, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
