[edit]We are currently running a study on the effects of adding additional information to SuggestBot's suggestions. Participation in the study is voluntary. Should you wish to not participate in the study, or have questions or concerns, you can find contact information on the SuggestBot study page.
IMPORTANT CHANGES: We have modified the selection of articles SuggestBot suggests and altered the design to incorporate more information about the articles, as described in this explanation.
Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information.
Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions
[edit]We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
- Views/Day
- Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
- Quality
- Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
- Content
- Is more content needed?
- Headings
- Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
- Images
- Is the number of illustrative images about right?
- Links
- Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
- Sources
- For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please let us know on SuggestBot's talk page. Regards from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker. -- SuggestBot (talk) 23:43, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Obviously it sucks that I'm not worthy of listing on Temple's list of people yet, but I really appreciate the time, effort, and kindness shown in the message explaining why. I recently received a copy of Temple Magazine where I'm listed as the author of 'Life After: The Arising' in the class notes section, and at this particular moment, I'm getting myself on the ballot for a Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a First Novel, so I thought I might qualify here. I have been interviewed before, though not by any super notable source, and I've attended a few zombie related events where, due to a variety of regrettable circumstances, I have not been publicized. Hopefully next time I'll have some more credible sources! BryanWay (talk) 01:58, 11 October 2013 (UTC) |

DYK for GD 61
[edit]On 3 November 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article GD 61, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the white dwarf star GD 61 was once likely orbited by a rocky planet or asteroid with water? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/GD 61. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Hello, Mercurywoodrose. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Baldwin's Hotel and Theatre, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Neonchameleon (talk) 16:43, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Copyright restriction of best lists
[edit]Hi. Can you provide a source for the copyright protection of lists such as David Pringle's 100 best novels? We should know precisely what constitutes a violation and avoiding deleting such lists entirely. There must be thousands of such lists here, maybe 10000 including best players of every sports season. --P64 (talk) 19:45, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
Greetings! I have removed the AfC tag from this page, as it is not being submitted under that policy. Also, I have already filed a move request for the page, and the template at the top is likely to confuse editors evaluating that request as to what kind of draft this is. The Kwartet Deletion
[edit]Hey could you userfy the article for The Kwartet that was deleted by SpacemanSpiff? I tried contacting spacemanspiff, but he is not active anymore. As I said on his page, I just saw the Kwartet live and they were fantastic. I'm sure that I could find more sources and help clean up the previous article. Thanks for any help! - Hicham — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hicham Riyad (talk • contribs) 18:39, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Help request
[edit]Hi Mercurywoodrose!
Thank you so much for your response! Yes, I do have refererences. Can you please tell me whom do I ask for the help
you implied? Is is someone I know personally, or are there people within the Wikipedia community? I am extremely
impressed the more I respond to messages that this is a social site of intellectuals. The photos of myself I own all
copyrights to. I have partnerships with the photographers and they own their edits and I own all my own.
I apologize for my slow adaptation to this site. It is so much bigger than I had anticipated. If I can figure out how
to move it to an edits page, I will surely do that. It will take me some time to insert all references.
More information at all on anything that can help move me along in a more efficient manner is much appreciated.
Thank you again for your response, your message was kind and understanding. Wikipedia is extremely intimidating from the inside. I always thought it was like a dictionary for things, places, people, but the inner workings are a magical hub...lol.
I truly hope I can figure out this forum for my article and become a part of this wonder space,
Your help is extremely valued, TAMIKKO BEASTY (talk) 07:32, 10 February 2014 (UTC)Tamikko

Hi Mercury. Could you update my page? 24.205.44.229 (talk) 23:02, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
Noticed this: WikiProject icon Portal icon Hispanic and Latino Americans portal This article is within the scope of WikiProject Latinos, a collaborative effort to improve the coverage of Latino and Hispanic related articles on Wikipedia. If you would like to participate, please visit the project page, where you can join the discussion and see a list of open tasks.
Start This article has been rated as Start-Class on the quality scale. Low This article has been rated as Low-importance on the importance scale.

- Im not sure what you are asking here. your article is currently listed as part of the Latino project. however, that project is considered inactive at this time. doesnt mean much to add it there, but i did in case the project becomes active again. the project is there to help editors coordinate work in a subject area, and should have no bearing on the readers experience of the article. the portal is a nice link, i built up the san francisco bay area portal myself. the ratings are appropriate. the writers guild appointment doesnt increase the importance rating of your article, though thats entirely subjective, and again, should not infer anything about the article to the reader, only editors. a "start" rating just means that your article is more than a minimal stub with a couple of refs, but is not complete. for subjects like yourself for which there is not a lot of printed reference material, its often hard to go from "start" to the next rating, "c". If, however, your article gets to the point where all the printed/online references on you are listed, and all pertinent information found in them is in the article, then even if its small, it would become a "c" article. again, it has NO relevance to readers, only editors. As i edit articles, i periodically check to see if the ratings correspond to the content.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 17:20, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
ok. Got it. thanx for the info. It would be nice to update the migdia page, nonetheless :) I need to give you a barnacle for good service and not sure how to do that any more. Mig (talk) 17:25, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

I have been updating the hispanic american portal, and i realized that your article can qualify for a "did you know" blurb there. normally, those are on the main page, and are vetted heavily (yours would not pass muster). but portal DYK's are vetted by the editors at that portal. i am the only active editor currently! Your article is just long enough, has an image, is reasonably sourced, and is recently expanded/new. so there, you are "featured" on the portal page. however, dont get too excited. portals are not very popular, and while i dont have stats right now to show how many visitors come here (you can use Wikipedia article traffic statistics when its working), id suspect its fewer than 50/day. if another editor comes along and doesnt think it belongs there, and has a good argument, i will probably not debate it. I added the prez of brazil, pope francis, and the article on afrolatinos: the old subjects had been there for over 5 years. good portals rotate their articles every time you go to the page, so this one was as dead as dead could be. YOU should adopt the hispanic american portal, if you ever decide to waste time editing here for free...Mercurywoodrose (talk) 21:08, 1 March 2014 (UTC).
- Wow! 24.205.44.229 (talk) 21:21, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
- You can also use Wikipedia article traffic statistics to look at your own articles hits. its not working right now. you might see a slight uptick in the number of hits after today. glad you like this. I dont get a lot of feedback from editors, as i dont seek it out (i do a lot of boring background work and creation of small articles), so its especially nice to be recognized by the subject of an article. by the way, the Oracle of Bacon gives us a Bacon Number for ourselves as 4: you have been in a tv show or movie with someone who was in one with someone who was in one with someone who was in one with me. your first link towards me was with Daniel Faraldo in The Night the City Screamed. he was then in I, the Jury, with someone who was in a film/tv with someone who was worked on a film i also appeared in. I am NOT in the field professionally (i was not paid). I prefer to remain anonymous here, but if you want to know, you can email me at (on your page).Mercurywoodrose (talk) 21:39, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
