Image Tagging Image:Tracteur Chatillon-Panhard 1914.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Tracteur Chatillon-Panhard 1914.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Rossrs 15:44, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Krebs Electromagnetic-Gear 1896.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Krebs Electromagnetic-Gear 1896.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 20:05, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Krebs Boulogne M et Mme K Auto ACK 7 1896.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Krebs Boulogne M et Mme K Auto ACK 7 1896.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:La France 7-vols.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:La France 7-vols.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 18:14, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image:Krebs Gymnote 1888.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on Image:Krebs Gymnote 1888.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Krebs Gymnote 1888.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. BJTalk 13:48, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:Krebs Carburateur 1902.jpg

Your edits
[edit]Hello, thanks for your edits, but please do not cite your own personal website in Wikipedia articles. Personal websites are not reliable sources on Wikipedia and adding references to your own work is an extreme conflict of interest. Instead, directly cite the sources where you got your information, assuming they are reliable per Wikipedia standards. I have undone your additions of references to your webiste. Graham87 14:54, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
- I put back the ref you added to La France (airship), as the article subject is directly relevant to the website ... but I'm not sure how I feel about the others, now that I've checked out the website more closely. Ref tags are not usually for photos, more for information. Graham87 15:31, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

- The above also applies to File:Tracteur Chatillon-Panhard 1914.jpg. Now, it's quite possible that these needed to be treated as non-free when you first uploaded them, but that they might have entered the public domain since that time. So, you might want to ask about them over at c:Commons:Village pump/Copyright to see if they are acceptable to reupload to Commons. In order for Commons to keep accept them, they would need to be within the public domain in both the United States and their country of first publication (which might be France). -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:34, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Krebs Portrait 1910-01.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Krebs Portrait 1910-01.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:22, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not sure why you would claim this as your "own work" unless you're claiming that you actually took this photograph yourself. As I posted above, this might have lapsed into the public domain if it was taken and first published in 1910. Generally, the person taking a photo is considered to be the copyright holder under the copyright laws of most countries. So, if you didn't take this photo yourself, you can't really claim that you did. If for some reason you didn't take the photo but still are claiming it as your "own work", you should send a WP:CONSENT email to Wikimedia VRT for verification purposes. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:26, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- Given that I am a great-grandson of Arthur Constantin KREBS and that I represent the KREBS family, which wishes to make known the work of this ancestor to the international community by giving complete freedom for the use of his artefacts, what should I put as a right equivalent to "public domain"?
- Philippe KREBS Rbmn (talk) 08:36, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- There are a couple of things you need to be aware based on what you've posted above. The first thing is that you're going to be considered to have a conflict of interest (or COI) with respect to anything written about your great-grandfather on Wikipedia. Because of this relationship and also because you also seem to be editing on behalf of the Krebs family, you shouldn't really be directly editing or creating content about your great-grandfather or any other family members on any Wikipedia page but instead should be primarily using article talk pages to make edit requests for any changes you feel should be made. There's more information about what's expected of COI editors found at Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. Please read that page and try to follow the guidance it provides.The next thing has to do with this particular photo and assessing its copyright status. As I posted above, it's generally the person who takes a photo, not the subject of the photo, who is considered to be the copyright holder of the photo; so, whoever took this photo of your great-grandfather would, in principle, be considered to be its copyrright holder. Even possessing a physical copy of a photo isn't normally seen as a transfer of copyright ownership from one party to another. Since this appears to be an extremely old photo, however, enough time may have passed for photo to no longer be eligible for copyright protection. In other words, the copyright has run out, nobody any longer has a valid claim of cooyright ownership over it, and it has fallen within the public domain. Under US copyright law, I believe the photo would most certainly be too old to be still eligible for copyright protection if it was taken and first published sometime around 1910 in the US. Things, however, get a little more complicated if the photo was first published outside of the US in some other country (e.g. France) because the copyright laws of that country may not be exactly the same as the US. This is why I suggested that you ask about the copyright status of this photo over at c:COM:VPC because there's a good chance that someone over on Commons might be able to help determine whether the file is now within the public domain. What you basically did when you changed the licesning of the file is claim that you are the copyright holder and that the photo is still protected by copyright. While I'm sure you meant well, this seems to be most likely not correct and possibly could even be considered to be a type of copyfraud by some. If it's the case that your great-grandfather somehow obtained copyright ownership over the photo, then that copyright ownership would've been transferred to his heirs or his estate upon his death. So, as an heir, it might be possible for you to upload this photo to Commons under a c:Template:PD-heirs license which is another form of public domain. Once again, though, the photo may now be too old to be eligible for any type of copyright protection which means there's no need to do such a thing. This is another reason why it might be wise to ask about this over at COM:VPC. Anyway, I know of a couple of Wikipedia administrators who are also administrators on Commons and I will ask one of them to take a look at this discussion. Perhaps they will be able to help sort this out. It's quite possible that the only thing that is needed here would be to change the file's licensing to an appropriate public domain license. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:19, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- A couple of things that have become known since my last post. Apparently, both this file and File:Tracteur Chatillon-Panhard 1914.jpg already exist on Wikimedia Commons as File:Arthur Constantin Krebs.jpg and File:Artillery Tractor Chatillon-Panhard 1914.jpg. The two Commons files were uploaded by other users and are licensed as public domain (though they are different licenses). One file was uploaded in 2015 and the other in 2017. Since files uploaded to English Wikipedia are local files, they can only be used on English Wikipdia; so, my guess is that someone uploaded the same files to Commons because they wanted to use them in articles on other language Wikipedias. I'm not sure whether the licensing for the portrait photo is correct (since that license assumes first publication in the US), but the licensing for the tractor photo looks OK at first glance. The fact that these files already exist on Commons might mean it's unnecessary to do anything more on your end, unless you disagree with the licensing of the Commons files. You could simply use these two files instead of the local ones you uploaded; you could then possibly request the deletion of the two local files you uploaded to English Wikipedia. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:54, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hi again. I'm still trying to sort this out as you can see from User talk:King of Hearts#File licensing question. Someone actually uploaded one of the photos to Commons giving your website as the source. If you can clarify (to the best of your knowledge) when these photos were first published (please note "published" has a specific meaning when it comes to copyright), who took them (if known) and when that person died (if known), then this might be able to be sorted out. For reference, the two versions of these photos uploaded to Commons are claiming they're within the public domain (i.e. they're no longer protected by copyright and nobody (including your family) "owns" them anymore) which makes them fair game for anyone to use as they please. So, if you're going to try to assert a claim of copyright over these photos by licensing them as Creative Commons here on Wikipedia, then the Commons files may need to be discussed and possibly deleted. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:09, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
- So you can delete the version in the English Wikipedia. 2A01:E0A:AE4:6350:BD14:EB9:E316:1E4A (talk) 10:55, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- If you're Rbmn, please try to log in to your account when you post because otherwise things can get confusing. The file on English Wikipedia will eventually be deleted if its licensing can't be verified; so, if nothing is further is done and no WP:CONSENT email is sent into Wikimedia VRT, the file will end up deleted in a few days. The files on Commons also have questionable licensing as well, and these too may eventually end up deleted though for slightly different reasons. For the time being, they're OK but they may end up nominated for deletion if their licesning problems can't be sorted out. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:11, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- Again I wish this photo to be in the public domain. Since the English wikipedia version is no longer used by any page, it can be deleted. Rbmn (talk) 12:31, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- What I've been trying to explain to you is that you just can't want something to be in the public domain unless you can clearly establish that you're the copyright holder. You can't just declare something to be in the public domain if it doesn't satisfy whatever the criteria are for being in the public domain. In order for a file to avoid deletion on Commons, it needs to be freely licensed or within the public domain in the United States (because that's where the Commons servers are located) and in the country of first publication. Since copyright laws can sometimes very quite a bit from country to country, the more information you can provide about when and where the photo was first published, the easier it's going to be try and sort out its licensing. Do you know when and where the photo was taken, and who took it? Do you know if it was ever c:COM:PUBLISHED (e.g. in a newspaper or some other periodical)? Do you know when the person who took it might've died? Do you know whether the person who took the photo formally transferred its copyright to your great grandfather? Without knowing more about the provenance of this photo, there's a good chance that it will also end up being deleted from Commons. -- Marchjuly (talk) 14:02, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- To my knowledge this photo of Krebs was published for the first time in 1924: https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k54150172/f9.item.r=krebs
- Also to my knowledge, when you ask a photographer to take your picture, you buy all the rights attached at the same time, otherwise there would be a lot of possible claims on identity photos and wedding photos... Rbmn (talk) 16:39, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- Was the photo taken in 1910? The file is referred to as "Krebs Portrait 1910" and I'm just curious as to why you gave it that name. When the photo was actually taken isn't as important as when it was first published (unless the photo was never published), but just curious about the 14-year difference in dates.Anyway, if it was first published in 1924, then that would seem to make it old enough to be eligible for public domain status in the US since works first published outside the US prior to Janaury 1, 1927 are now, for the most part, considered to be within the public domain under US copyright law. In addition, the book you've linked to above appears to make France the country of first publication, which is also a good thing since France is in the EU and works first published prior to January 1, 1952, have a good chance of being within the public domain. If the person who took the photo is known and it can be demonstrated that that person died before January 1, 1952, then the work would've entered the public domain on Janaury 1, 2022. This is because the EU copyright law follow a 70-year rule for post mortem auctoris (or p.m.a.) which allows copyright protection to continue for 70 years after the copyright holder has died. For this claim to be made and be accepted by Commons, though, who the photogapher was and when they died need to be known. If whoever took the photo has never been known, then it could still be within the public domain under EU copyright law because truly anonymous works for which the author has never disclosed their identity or whose identity has never been known are only eligible for copyright protection for 70 years after first publication. This, however, is harder to demonstrate since it basically means the person taking the photo would've needed to remain unknown up to January 1, 1995, for the photo to now be within the public domain. Since Commons requires that a public domain image be as such under both US copyright law and under French copyright, the "unknown status" of the copyright holder could be a problem for Commons. Do you know whether the Revue aéronautique de France gave attribution to the photos it used? Some publications attribute photos directly on the page the photo is used, but others do so on a separate page near the end of the publication. If attribution was given somewhere, then that could be a way to find out who took the photo and thus figure out whether Commons can keep the file.Another possiblilty could be to keep the version you uploaded and have the version on Commons be deleted instead. This is because photos uploaded locally to English Wikipedia can only be used on English Wikipedia and thus only need to be public domain under US copyright law for English Wikipedia's purposes. Commons photos are "global photos" in the sense that they can be used by all the different language Wikipedias (e.g. French Wikipedia) and it's for that reason that Commons requires its public domain files to be so in both the US and country of first publication.Your last comment about asking a photographer to take your picture being a transfer of copyright is not totally the case. For sure, you can hire someone to take your photographer and part of your agreement with them might include them transfering any claim of copyright to you (many people do create works as part of their jobs under a work for hire type of agreement), but this isn't always the case (at least not under current US copyright laws). Wedding photographers and other professional photographers often retain the copyrights of the photos they take; they sell physical copies and re-use licenses to the subjects of the photos, but almost always retain the primary intellectual property rights unless they officially transfer them to someone else. For photographers who take such photos, there could be quite a lot of commercial value inherent to the photos that goes beyond the money they intially receive for taking them; photographers could use these photos as a form of business promotion reasons and other things depending on the copyright laws of the country where the photo was taken or any separate agreements they may have entered into with the subjects of the photos. So, even paying someone to take your photo doesn't automatically mean you're also paying for all of the rights to the photo. Back in the day, photographers often retained the negatives of the photos they took so as to retain control over their creative output; these days they might retain the "digital negatives" over the photos they take for the same reasons. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:11, 21 May 2022 (UTC)

I've been discussing this file with a Wikipedia and Commons administrator who knows a lot about file copyright matters. Based on the Revue aéronautique de France publication date of 1924, he converted the file's licensing to {{PD-US-expired-abroad}} for local use on English Wikipedia; so, the file is no longer tagged for deletion and it should be OK. There's never any 100% guarantees when it comes to something like this, but things should be fine. The Commons file, however, may need to be deleted because the file's copyright status in France is still unclear and the photo most likely won't enter into the public domain in France until 2031. I will replace the Commons file currently be used in the article with the one you uploaded and you shouldn't need to do anything else with respect to the photo. File:Tracteur Chatillon-Panhard 1914.jpg, however, still needs to be sorted out so any information you can provide about the provenance of this photo would be helpful. As I posted above, whoever uploaded File:Artillery Tractor Chatillon-Panhard 1914.jpg to Commons got the photo from your website, but there's no indication where you got the photo. If you remember where you got it or whether it was previously published somewhere else, then that could help sort things out. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:29, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
- The "File:Tracteur Chatillon-Panhard 1914.jpg" is a postcard published in 1914. Rbmn (talk) 13:34, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks again for clarifying things. Based upon the information you provided and the information on your website, the administrator I mentioned above has gone ahead and re-licensed the tractor photo as well so that it should now be OK. The copyright status of photo with respect to the country of first publication, however, is still unclear; so, the version uploaded by someone else to Commons might end deleted. Just use the local file you uploaded if you want to use the photo on any articles on English Wikipedia. If you or someone else wants to use the file on some other language Wikipedia, then they most likely will have to make sure it's clearly OK for Commons before doing so. Finally, thanks for you patience and understanding through this entire process. The purpose wasn't to try make your Wikipedia experience difficult or unpleasent; it was just trying to make sure there were no issues with the files you uploaded. Please do, however. refer back to the early on in the thread when I mentioned Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Since the Arthur Constantin Krebs is your great grandfather, you should try and follow the relevant policies and guidelines whenever adding or creating content about him or his work on English Wikipedia. Other language Wikipedia may provide similar guidance as well, but English Wikipedia is pretty vigorous in applying its and you'll increase your chances of avoiding trouble if you follow the relevant policies and guidelines. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:47, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

Clément-Panhard
[edit]Please note that articles are not allowed to be left sitting in redlinked categories, such as Category:Arthur Constantin Krebs or Category:Clément-Panhard vehicles — articles may be filed only in categories that actually exist in order to have articles filed in them. As I've now had to come back in to remove the page from nonexistent categories three times in the space of just two weeks, please be advised that there's not going to be any more Mr. Nice Guy about it — if I ever see either of those categories back on the list of redlinked categories that have to be cleaned up for a fourth time, I'll be disabling your ability to edit the page at all anymore. - Thanks for your first message I received.
- These categories ares existing:
- https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Arthur_Constantin_Krebs
- https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Clément-Panhard_vehicles
- So the question is : why are they redlinked ?
- May you helpful on that matter?

Categories
[edit]Hello, Rbmn,
On Wikipedia, categories exist in a hierarchy with all categories having parent categories that integrate them into the hierarchy. You created a lot of orphaned categories that have no relationship to the millions of other categories on the project. Also, pages in User space and Draft space do not have article subject categories assigned to them. Categories are assigned to drafts once they are moved to the main space of the project.
So, please do not create lots of categories that only exist for an article you are working on. They are likely to get tagged for deletion either through speedy deletion or Categories for Discussion. If you have questions about categories, please bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:27, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- You added 54 categories to the draft you are working on in your sandbox. That's insane! You'll need to cut that down to 5-7 categories that define the individual, not a list of every fact about their life. Even Presidents and Noble Prize winners don't have 54 categories! Liz Read! Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Rbmn. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:38, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I am historian in history of technics (EHESS/Centre Koyré).
- So I am doing an historian analysis on a biography.
- Wikipedia is a huge tool for history because it allows all links between the facts and the subjects.
- There is no commercial purpose on that work.
- It is only a collection of facts and documents fully proved.
- Let me know your feeling about that approach.
- Thank you.

[edit]Please note that per WP:USERNOCAT, sandbox pages such as your User:Rbmn/sandbox are not permitted to be filed in mainspace categories as if they were articles. This is not a suggestion that you are free to ignore at your whim, it is a mandatory rule that you must follow. As the page has had to be edited numerous times to remove it from categories it isn't allowed to be filed in, please note that if it ever gets readded back to categories again I will be forced to disable your ability to edit it at all anymore. Moved Discussion
[edit]- I Moved the below discussion from my talk page:
- "Arthur Constantin Krebs article" for transparency. I kept a hidden copy on my talk page.
Arthur Constantin Krebs article
[edit]Hello, May you tell me how can i publish the following article: https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/User:Rbmn/Arthur_Constantin_KREBS_(1850-1935):_Military_engineer,_Automotive_industrialist,_Great_projects_manager Thanks a lot Rbmn (talk) 3:38 am, 25 September 2024, last Wednesday (2 days ago) (UTC−5)[reply]
- Greetings Rbmn. I see you are an historian. This is cool and Wikipedia needs experts. I am an unpapered "history buff" but very eclectic concerning Wikipedia.
- I had some issues several years ago (at the start of my Wikipedia editing tenure) as I struggled to make my one thousandth edit. I created an article, I believe (from an older mans memory) was Michael Fox (actor) (1921-1996) [Michael (Mike) Fox (Actor)]. I did not know much about Wikipedia. Some of what I deemed important, that the actor Michael J. Fox had to use a "J" because the screen actors guild did not allow two or more actors with the same name, was included. "Michael Fox (actor)" ended up deleted and later Michael Fox (American actor) was created. I was angry, have never looked to see if any attribution was offered, and the first time I considered forgetting being an editor.
- The second time was over the renaming of an article I performed a lot of research on, and related to 20 July plot, that had a far longer name than Claus von Stauffenberg. I was infuriated. How dare someone rename an article I worked so hard on and knew was correct. I actually stated I was going to stop editing. I didn't, and found that there was a third option for a [jury in Louisiana] that had not been recorded.
- I resolved to continue editing while learning more about Wikipedia, including never being blocked or banned, period, but especially concerning things like a conflict of interest or copyrights issues. I have been falsely accused and brought to ANI, I think two times that were baseless, and twice a random IP range block that was finally resolved so not on my record.
- My advice: If you receive any negative comments it is best to and look at everything more than once. See WP:BRINK. On anything considered new ground, ask someone or post a note on talk pages. Making mistakes would be classified as a given, Not heeding advice, especially from an Admin, can result in potential serious issues.
- Back to the subject at hand after the unsolicited advice:
Article
[edit]- As for the title you mentioned above, that I believe Philippe KREBS created, Arthur Constantin Krebs was created on Wikipedia on 2005-09-09. If this is not the same person, let me know.
- If this is the same person it may be know: Mr. KREBS (KREBS author of article), being directly related to the subject, can't directly create the article because of a clear COI.
- A very clear stance needs to be taken to avoid copyright infringement (non-negotiable policy) or too close paraphrasing to avoid even the possible tendentious editing or even not here to build an encyclopedia. See: Paraphrasing of copyrighted material.
- The author could have submitted an article draft to WP:AFC.
- Note: If you decide to improve the current article, and use the Wikiversity article in the expansion, please use extreme caution. #1-) the wikiversity article cannot be considered a reliable source. 2)- Any references you use, you have to physically look at and cannot just be a copy and paste. Images must have source information. The vast image collection is very likely be too much for all inclusion on Wikipedia. Direct article relevancy needs to be observed. See: Wikipedia:Image use policy.
- From just a glance I might suggest not creating new categories.
- It seems to me that Mr. KREBS did a lot of research.
- The current article "Arthur Constantin Krebs" has severe citation issues, so could use a lot more references as inline citations. The "External links" section has about one more than double what is actually a non-controversial count.
- When you check it out let me know if I can be of assistance and I can see what I can do. I have been having so serious health issues so cannot be "johnnie-on-the-spot". I hope I have been so help. Have a great, -- Otr500 (talk) 7:40 am, Today (UTC−5)

COI
[edit]Rbmn, I am sorry but for some reason I came to a wrong conclusion that you and the person that created the above mentioned article (that you are seeking to get "published), were two different people but You are "Philippe KREBS".
- This clears up the user page comments "We look forward to hearing you talk about all these technical and historical subjects." I will provide some suggestion below:
- Getting an article published: I do not have the time or health to start a longer term project. My health problems already mean I am behind before I even get started. I am sure you know: You should not edit any article where there is a direct COI.
I was just looking around when I saw that you were the "great-grandson" representing the KREBS family.
- While the behavioral guideline uses the wording "COI editing is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia". it is far more complicated and "strongly discouraged" actually is usage that could be "under-strongly" represented. Request for editing help is somewhat complicated. You should really follow the advice:
- I glanced at the article for intended publication. There appears (cursory glance) to be some serious issues even though the presentation appears solid.
- First: It is important to read Editing policy and maybe Wikipedia:Etiquette. It is Important that "we" means only you yourself. No one can use your account.
- Images: All photos, drawings, logos, or graphs need to follow the policies and guidelines. While This is an information page and not "an encyclopedic article, nor one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines"; it does represent the more broadly community accepted
aspects of Wikipedia's norms, customs, technicalities, or practices.
. Since emotions are not visible on Wikipedia, and if you need a laugh today, read Wikipedia:Rouge editor,- Ultimate goal: Wikipedia always needs good editors. Sometimes an editor wanting an article published about friends neighbors, family, or one they are paid to have published end up considered a WP:SPA. I am sure that is not the case here.
Article edits
[edit]- Since it appears the article is already created you can add a new "Suggested COI article edits" section on the talk page, or use some other way to denote you have a COI and place this in the edit summary. You "should" try to have the actions and patience of a sloth. Unless you can find someone that will take the time to vett all the information from beginning to end, you should start out slow with a minimum amount of requested edits. You might real WP:SELFPUB and WP:SELFPROMOTE.
- The criteria for article inclusion and sourcing was more lax in the past. Since I have been involved the policies, guidelines and even essays, are more strict sssssssconcerning operation. Wikipedia has more or less evolve from "we need lots of articles, to we need as much "quality" as possible. There is always room for humor on Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:Rouge editor a humorous essay, or Wikipedia:Wikipedia does not need you, an essay, that actually falls under the heading "humorous", even though not marked as such. Even Wikimedia even has [[1]].
- Anyway, I hope you have fulfillment an stay away from sanctions, -- Otr500 (talk) 16:57, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
