Uncivility - Reply
[edit]Hi there TONY, VASCO here
about this (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football#Warms_the_heart...), why should i defend the undefendable? Yes i admit, i severely insulted the "user", but the "user" is nothing but a lowlife vandal, User:Bruno corinthiano, in that case editing anonymously.
The "user" in question, for several months, removed pic caption in boxes, "corrected" years with clubs, etc, etc. People (including me, politely) tried to talk with him, to no avail whatsoever (he said "talk to the hand"). That's why i lost it in that particular summary, not saying it's OK to do that, according to WP guidelines it's not; and yes, not the first time i do it.
However, since i am not a vandal or the sort, i think i am welcome to edit here and improve articles, or do you beg to differ? Sincerely, the last line of your input at WP:FOOTY suggested that. Oh, and by the way, both the BRUNO account and that anon address have been blocked.
Attentively, enjoy that weekend - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 19:13, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, update, the anon account mentioned here has had its blocked lifted, has returned to its previous ways, thought i'd let you know. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 19:20, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick and kind reply man! --Vasco Amaral (talk) 20:02, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
QSL transfers
[edit]I thought any transfers made after the summer transfer window were appropriate for that wiki article? Because when I looked at the other articles, they seemed to adhere to that. Wilhelmsson and Niang are from September, while Akale is from November. The window ended before those transfers were made. Of course they weren't made in the winter transfer window, but I wouldn't know where else to put them. Would they be more appropriate in the 2011 summer transfer window article(if there was one)? And to answer your question, no, I don't read Arabic. Google translate ftw :D. I browse a lot of Qatari football sites (using translate) and I saved that article for when I decided to make an Evanildo article (you beat me to it). [edit]FYI: google seems to support Nico Yennaris being part Chinese, not Korean. Cheers! Jim1138 (talk) 08:08, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Algerian BLPs
[edit]Hi Tony, as our resident expert on Algerian football, I could do with some help please. There has been a sudden increase recently in unreferenced Algerian BLPs, and we need assistance sorting them - infoboxes, references etc. A few a week appear at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Unreferenced BLPs/Full list, so if you could take a look, that would be brilliant! Thanks, GiantSnowman 12:09, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, much appreciated. I will try & have a word with the editor in question. GiantSnowman 12:23, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Posted this due to Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2012_January_5#Category:Saudi_Arabian_people_of_Black_African_descent.
In case I am drawn away from Wikipedia again, wanted to place this on your radar.
I'm dropping a note here, and at User talk:Good Olfactory and User talk:Mangoe (apparently the creator). The three of you are the only ones listed in the category page's edit history. If you think anyone else should be notified, please feel free : )

Ali El-Khatib
[edit]Hey there. I didn't find at WP:MOSLEAD, why no reference to El-Khatib being born Israeli should be mentioned. In fact, this seems to be the way that all articles are stylized for dual nationals who go on to play for a different national team. Lazhar Hadj Aïssa
[edit]Hi Tony! I was just wondering if you know how I can add the Arab Champions League stats to Hadj Aïssa's stats table? Wbel (talk) 02:53, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
- I think I'll have to create a custom one, I'll try in a few days. thanks anyway! Wbel (talk) 17:01, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
- I actually had nothing to do, so I did a little research and constructed my own User:Wbel/Sandbox. I've labeled the Arab Champions League as 'Arab', if you have a more suitable name let me know, and let me know what you think of the table?? Wbel (talk) 18:32, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
- I'll add some comments, hopefully they'll aid you! :) Wbel (talk) 16:46, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi there TONY, VASCO here,
the official club profile to where you directed me shows the FULL NAME, but that's valid for all the other players at Real Sociedad. His footballing name is just CADAMURO (meaning "name by which he's known best, please have a look at ALL the links and ALL the refs except #1 to see it), i have been following La Liga thoroughly, and his name in game reports is CADAMURO, and his shirt name is CADAMURO but OK, out of respect for your work (i just wished the opposite was truth) i'll leave the article in peace, namewise.
Attentively, happy week - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 22:31, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
WP:ANI
[edit]I would advise taking this to ANI as opposed to AN, as it is an issue that requires admin action. You need to provide diffs showing the false information that Maxi has added to articles, then diffs showing you trying to explain to him why it is wrong, and to stop, and then diffs showing that he has ignored you - does that make sense? Explain your concerns that this is a WP:COMPETENCE issue as well as WP:VANDALISM - he doesn't understand our notability, verifiability or BLP policies. If you need any help, let me know. Algerian Cup (CSC V OM)
[edit]Hey Tony, I just had a look at the highlights on youtube of the game between CSC and OM. I realised that the goal scorer for OM was not Saad Sahraoui, but in fact Farid Zerroukhat. I assume the lebuteur match Report is incorrect. I also wanted to know which Ammoura played the game? was it Sid Ali Ammoura or Tarek Ammoura? I hope you can help with my queries! Wbel (talk) 16:06, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
- thanks for the info :) Do you know who was the actual goal scorer Farid Zerroukhat or Saad Sahraoui? could you have a look at the video on youtube, as i'm not sure if Farid Zerroukhat actually got a touch, but it does look like he did. thanks in advance. Wbel (talk) 03:11, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- here is the link CSC 3 - 1 OM. Saad Sahraoui is the one that takes the free kick! Wbel (talk) 03:11, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- lol thanks :) are you interested in working on the Tour d'Algerie (annual bicycle race) articles? Wbel (talk) 15:43, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- lol, I don't follow cycling myself, I just wanted to put the info out there. P.S. I think Algerian football is coming along nicely on wiki! the only thing that is lacking is the text in the articles. Wbel (talk) 04:59, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

fb temp
[edit]It's just a move! I'll sort it out asap. Wbel (talk) 15:08, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
I got the information from ar.wikipedia. Though I couldn't find any information about his origins in the sources I provided, I tried looking further into it, and I found that he is infact a bedoun, like Talal Blooshi, but can't cite them as sources since they are not reliable. In interviews done with him, he mentions plenty about playing with Kuwait SC, but nothing else about Kuwait. Even if he is a bedoun, it is different from being stateless I believe, unless bedouns in Kuwait are not granted citizenship... I don't know the situation. No one can ever be sure about the nationality of a single player playing in Qatar ffs. Anyways, since I can't find a single source to clarify if he is either bedoun or stateless, I'll remove that part. My mistake for looking for information on the Arabic wikipedia. Elspamo4 (talk) 15:04, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
Ahh, ok, I'm not really sure on legal statuses of ethnic groups. I believe he is of Iraqi descent.
Now that you mention the Lekhwiya article, I'm just about to add season-to-season. I think it might need a little bit of clean up as well. As for the intro, I'm not sure what we could add that is not already in the history section without adding too much detail =P it is a brand new club after all. Adding that they are defending champions might be a good start. I might try to add a little to the intro tomorrow or the day after, but today I will be adding their season-to-season since 2009 and maybe cleaning up/re-arranging some sections. Elspamo4 (talk) 17:44, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
I was talking about the box which shows their position in the league, domestic cups, ACL, etc. since it is so short to add. However - I just changed my mind and decided to make an actual season page lol. Adding from 2009 will just be a waste of space, so what do you think of a 2011/2012 season page? I think it should have one considering 10th league British clubs have one whereas the league champions of Qatar don't have one. I will probably just copy-pasta Real Madrid's format. Do you think 2011/2012 is good, or should I wait till next season? Elspamo4 (talk) 17:57, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
I just realized that a 2011-12 season page already exists. I won't need help editing it, I'll try to edit it all in at once. I have a lot of time since I finished my mocks and I'm waiting till Thursday to get my results and I'm trying to waste time in any way I can; so why not waste it doing something productive? UNAF U-17 Tournament
[edit]Hi Tony, as our resident expert on North African football, can you have a look at 2008 UNAF U-17 Tournament (Tunisia) and 2008 UNAF U-17 Tournament (Algeria) please (among others - are they notable? If so, can you find any sources? Thanks, GiantSnowman 15:57, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry about the unreferencing for a few of the articles, I did them in a rush. I'll try and help out when I have some spare time. I got some of the info from dzfootball.free.fr, I hope that helps with some referencing. I am sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather Tony, I hope you have a speedy recovery Wbel (talk) 19:45, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
- thanks, and its good to here you're on the mend :) by the way do you think its ideal to have two different pages for both of the tournaments in 2008, or do you think combining them into one page would be better? Wbel (talk) 19:53, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
- Ok. How would you label the prevseason and nextseason parameter in the infobox, as I currently set them as 2008 (1) and 2008 (2) etc Wbel (talk) 20:12, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hey Tony, I think there was two tournaments held in 2011, one in June and the second in December. could you verify this please? Wbel (talk) 11:13, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- yea, I'm not sure if it started or ended on 24/06/2011. The official website has it down as a previous tournament at unaf-foot.com U17. I think Morocco won it. Wbel (talk) 17:03, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- yes, I was referring to the first one. thanks for verifying :) Wbel (talk) 18:24, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

pages deleted
[edit]Hey Tony, I created a few pages yesterday, and one of them has already been deleted (Samir Lemoudaâ) and the other is about to be deleted (Mohamed Nadjib Khiar). They suggest that the notability has not been established, however, I believe I have established the notability, by adding in the intro text that they are professional footballers. I hope you can help out and try and retrieve the deleted page. thanks in advance. Wbel (talk) 13:40, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks Tony :) The other page got sorted. I will add this seasons stats at the end of the season, as I'd have to count appearances from the match reports. How did you manage to store the page in your sandbox for future reference? Wbel (talk) 22:00, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, my mistake. At first I added all the stats together (from qsl), from when he was on loan and from when he officially joined the club. Then I realized that was wrong, so I updated his club stats to just this year, but QSL.com.qa is slow at updating stats, so they were outdated for 1 game. I didn't see that you already updated the stats. :P I changed it back to the correct ones. Just change it back next time, I can be absent minded sometimes. Elspamo4 (talk) 10:07, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

For me we are freinds, there are not many algerian contributers in english wikipedia reason that we must work together. I believe you what you explain in your message and sorry if I was angry because what the administrator said against me.
- About Saayoud, no probleme for me if we put sayoud, however believe me it's not correct. I explain: In arabic his name is سعيود and if you see there is a lettre عـ wich mean (the 2nd lettre a or â in french). When you put Sayoud, it's mean in arabic only سيود (not correct). Hope that you understand my explain and sorry for all these incomprehension. --Faycal.09 (talk) 13:05, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- The admin is not right because the warnin that i received on past is about copy and past transfert not about changing name, I'm wikipedian and i have the right to change names of article and It's not illegal (only if we put copy and past method).
- About Saayoud, Algerian names of caurse work like that iven if we have our meaning, you must know that the berber and arab trasliterated are same because there are not different in phonetic. --Faycal.09 (talk) 20:18, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Nadir Belhadj
[edit]Hey Tony, I'm fine thanks and you? In regards to your message, I fully agree with you. Its only recently that I've realised that its not ideal to add other players names in intros (I wrote that little intro in early November 2011). On another note, If you feel that editing anything I add to articles can improve the article, feel free to do so, I dont mind at all. Sometimes I am tired and make silly mistakes in my edits, so its not a problem :) ......so does that mean the Yahia, Ziani and Chaouchi intros need to be modified or are those exceptions? Wbel (talk) 05:01, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- alright..I'll sort them out soon. I sorted out the Nadir Belhadj intro, does it sound ok? Wbel (talk) 18:26, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- i've sorted them, another question, do you know which year the ligue inter regions was founded and what happened to the old 3rd division? Wbel (talk) 18:45, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- well, the old 3rd division was called 'Championnat d'Algérie de Division 3' and contained 6 groups; Centre, Ouest, Est (Constantine), Est (Batna), Sud-est and Sud-Ouest (that was 2001-02 season). I think and I'm not sure but the ligue inter-regions was founded in 2003. I want the info as i want to further expanded the ligue inter regions section. Wbel (talk) 22:30, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Needing help: Egyptian club from before WWII period
[edit]Hi Tony, sorry to bother you but I need to see if you have any idea that can help me over this. What I need is an Egyptian club that Sándor Nemes (also widely known as Alexander Neufeld) played in, and it was his last club in his playing career. The only source I have is a book, "Die legionäre" (pag.294), where it says he played in Egypt with "Alexandria" after playing with BSK Belgrade. The thing is that by that time he had begin to be a coach as well. He was a coach/player in BSK earlier, so it wouldn´t have been strange that he was a coach/player in Alexandria as well, but not sure about it, what is sure is that he played there. We are talking about mid 1930s. He played and coached simultaneously BSK until 1933, but he stayed as a coach til 1935. Then around 1935 and 1936 he was in Israel coaching Hapoel Hatzair, before returning to BSK in 1936 where he stayed as a coach til 1939. Now, he was in Alexandria either somewhere around 1935-36, or perhaps after 1939 and during the 1940s. The wiki article includes that he coached a Yugoslav club named Bata Borovo since 1939, but that seems to be a mistake because the source I took this information from has confused him with another coach also named Nemes, Dragutin. So, we are left with the fact that we don´t know where he went in 1939 and it is possible that he went to Egypt.
Basically, all I have from that book is that Sandor Nemes aka Alexander Neufeld (sometimes also known by a third option name as Antal Nemes, don´t ask me why) ended his playing career abroad playing with Egypt: Alexandria. Now, having you as my main help for all doubts related to Maghreb, what can you tell me about this, and what club may it be? FkpCascais (talk) 03:22, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
- Many many thanks Tony, and don´t warry, I knew that it would be a hard case. Many sources, and all of them actually good ones like specialised books, often fail to get complete careers for players from this period, and this particular case is even more difficult because different sources are mixing players with similar names. For instance, German wiki Alexander Neufeld article says it was Perry Neufeld (an Hungarian player who played with Maccabi Tel Aviv and who later became Palestinian international) who played for Alexandria, however that doesn´t make much sense as my books say that it was an Austrian Neufeld who was there, and Perry had no connections to Austria while Alexander did as he played for Austria at NT level. To make things even more complicated, there was a third player/coach, Dragutin Nemes, who is also being mixed up with this other two guys, so this is a real hell. I am trying at least to get this one in order, I only feel sorry that I can´t really source Al-Ittihad Al-Sakndary with a source only saying "Alexandria", so I´ll have to be patient and digg more to try to find something.
- Hey, remember Mohamed El Monir? I wanted to make him an article but I didn´t even knew how to properly spell his name and by that time there was only one source for him which you found it for me? Well, the article has been doing OK, and we can be proud here on Wikipedia to say that we were the first among all football websites to have an article about him, and nowadays all have it. But even now, the naming inconsistency remains: Mohammed Mounir, Mohamed El-Monir (with ndash), Mohamed Mounir, etc. Basically, there are no two sites which spell him in same way :) FkpCascais (talk) 05:16, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
NA Hussein-Dey
[edit]Please don't revert before talking me, yes it's the official name, you can see here. You can see the recent logo of the team here and the old logo here. I'm not here to destroy wikipedia and I have knowledge don't worry. --Faycal.09 (talk) 21:21, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- In the first link, it's writen "Site non officiel du club de football du Nasr Athlétique d'Hussein-Dey (NAHD).", you can also see the calender's club here. U're alone who revert without talking with others too. --Faycal.09 (talk) 21:45, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

- No sorry these are two other links and yes u can gives other links however I have me too others. So are you sure that it's without (-)?. All human can make mistakes, sometimes it's me, and sometimes it's u. However the important is to agree the mistakes but only a few persons can do that, that's what i talked to u on past. Finaly no problem, we will not fight because a simple symbol (-), right?. I prefere to speak with you about good things like Algerian championship for example. Re: Qatari handball clubs
[edit]Hey Tony. Yes, I created the articles. Are you sure about names? I wasn't sure about the naming of those clubs, as the only other non-football Qatari team was called "Al Rayyan Futsal Team", so I named it based on that. I've seen a number of other sports clubs articles with the name "X Handball Team". Just curious, are there any articles which advise on the wiki names of other sections of a sports club? If you're sure, I'll take your word for it and rename the articles as soon as it's convenient.
PS. I start my IG's tomorrow so I may not be able to go on Wikipedia much. I'm logging off after this but I'll try to check Wikipedia later this week/maybe tomorrow. Elspamo4 (talk) 18:57, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Myanmar
[edit]Just a quick note: In early April, I read through the entire set of Burma/Myanmar archives line by line then fact-checked across the web. I came to the same conclusion you did: The name should be Myanmar. IMHO, however, there is a small, vigilant and committed group of editors intent on maintaining Burma "in solidarity" with those who oppose the current regime "of thugs and murderers." Good luck, and I hope that you can bring the article into compliance with WP:COMMONNAME. The shear volume of canvassing in the last couple of rounds, however, suggests that it will be an uphill fight. Cheers & Thanks, Last1in (talk) 18:10, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hi there TONY, VASCO here,
what's with this summary in Tonel (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Tonel&diff=492823703&oldid=492788841)? And i apologize also because i did not notice i had removed User:Timbouctou's new honour additions when reverting, thanks for being "on top" of that.
Now, for more on your summary: last time i checked, there was no consensus on the numerals on honours, i now for sure someone once said in a summary or at WP:FOOTY "most of us can count that far" about small quantities (like 1 or 2), can't remember who or when, but it clearly shows there is no consensus, no i am not a bigot loner "telling it like it is to everybody else", really don't understand your reaction.

- Another (here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Liassine_Cadamuro-Benta%C3%AFba&diff=481729780&oldid=481696459), even though i started first on this occasion, i apologize, even though in my summary i did not call you a know-it-all as did you (speaking of consensus or lack thereof, i have seen THOUSANDS of times how the dates are written "31 December 2012" not "December 31, 2012", so i was only trying to HELP). I honestly thought it was DZ and then FOOT, short for "FOOTBALL", taking example from France Football from instance (not "FranceFootball"); don't worry, i've taken notice. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 15:58, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- LOL! "Bigot loner"? Do not even know why i wrote that, was thinking of something similar, sorry man! However, you did say "stop deciding what is ok for everyone else", that's what took me aback, i NEVER implied that my friend, and i know you respect me, feeling is mutual. Take care as well ;) --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:42, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

2011 World Military Cup
[edit]Hey Tony, I've created the squad template for the Algeria squad that played in the 2011 World Military Cup, however, I've noticed that some of the names are mispelt on the official tournament website, so I was hoping you'd help me correct these. I've also added Sid Ahmed Aouedj's stats from the tournament and the gold medal award to the infox box. regards Wbel (talk) 21:55, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- yea, I fixed a few after I posted the message on your talk page. All of the names are mispelt on the official tournament website, was Riadh Moudjer at the tournament? as he's not listed on the official site. I also think there was a restriction of 20 players and not 21. regards Wbel (talk) 16:20, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry about the late reply! I assumed the same thing (3 GK's), but if you have a look at the medallists, Moudjer is not on the list. I've also had a look at the football regulations of the tournament and they state you can have up to 21 players, however, the regulations maybe outdated as they're dated 01/01/2005. Regards 01:57, 5 June 2012 (UTC)Wbel (talk)
- I too think its safe to assume that they failed to include his name in the squad, as their website is full of mistakes and on that note, no changes will be made.Wbel (talk) 18:46, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Arab names issue (again)
[edit]Hi Tony, hope you´re fine. Remember Mohamed El-Monir? Well, seems that this summer another Libyan footballer will be joining Serbian SuperLiga, more precisely Mohammad Za'abia will be joining FK Partizan. Now, the thing is that both players are Libyan and will be playing in the same league, thus it would be logical that both Mohamed´s have their name equally spelled. I will wait until Zaabia actually signs, as he still has 2 rounds in Kuwait League to play, but if he signs it would be good to consider changing in a way that both have the same spelling of the name, now, who better than you to suggest a solution to this :) FkpCascais (talk) 23:01, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- You leave me quite happy by saying that you saw him playing and that he is good, as I was a bit concerned about him... It all started 3 years ago while he was considered among the best Libyan young talents, and Partizan tried to bring him but for unknown reasons the transfer failed (seems Al Ittihad were asking a too high price and seemed overated at that time). Afterwords the issue died and other players were brought instead, while Zubya moved to Kuwait instead. Suddently at the end of this season Partizan coach Avram Grant who was preparing the team for Champions League qualificatons left Partizan, and the club seems to have entered into some finantial recession, so the president remembered Zubya who is having his contract expiring with Al Arabi this summer. The thing is that the fans are quite divided in a strange way: on one side there was the opposition to club president and also opposed Avram Grant who want to have more domestic players, while on the other there was much expectation that Grant could bring some serious players to the team, as he is close with Chelsea boss Abramovich... So, after the departure of Grant, Zubya was the first player to be announced while not even the new coach was appointed, and while on one side he doesn´t really fullfill the expectiation of neither side (ones want domestic players, while others want world class stars), Zubya seems to have been quite well accepted by now by both sides. He was already in Belgrade and he signed a pre-contract which is still held by a medical examination which will be done after his last league match in Kuwait.
- Now, in the meantime I was quite silent with the deal (and I am usually quite loud over there giving opinions in several forums on this or other Partizan transfers:). The thing is that I am concerned about him having lost his place in the Libyan national team (he was not part of the squad at the last CAN, while even young innexperienced El Monir was), and also he didn´t scored that much goals neither in the NT neither for the club in Kuwait. He is also quite temperamental, and he had several incidents with referee´s recently, however being temperamental can also be a good thing. On the other side he is tall, strong, fast, good ball control, enough tecnique, young, and kind of reminds to Chammakh. Some people said that he could really explode in Partizan. Also, he said that he likes very much Serbia and that he really wants to come (probably because of the excellent relations Yugoslavia/Serbia allways had with Libya, first during the Non-Alligned Movement period, and more recently with the Milosevic-Ghaddafi good relations). I also saw some videos of him and he definitely convinced me, he seems like a real headacke to opponent defence´s. Now, I am much more relaxed now that you told me good about him. He is to come soon, and despte not being a signing asked by the new coach Vladimir Vermezovic (he just came from South African Kaizer Chiefs FC) seems that will be OK with him coming and he should pass the medical exams and the contract will become valid then. Regarding his name, yes, using the previous title sems fine, I know yu explained to me the issue of several spelling possibilities, but it is just that would seem logic to have 2 players with same name from same country playing in same league spelled in same way :) FkpCascais (talk) 04:36, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Luca Toni
[edit]Hi, I see that adding his Bayern Munich II match might be misleading, but (at least for players in the German league system which I mostly edit) matches for the reserve team are usually added if the team is professional (sometimes even if the reserve team not playing in a professional league). As you say plenty of first team regulars have matches with the reserves and until now I wouldn't have thought that they had left the first team (especially if they have played only a few matches for the reserves). Maybe we should ask at WP:FOOTY if adding matches for reserve teams generally gives a wrong impression.
As I understand it, the infobox should list all the apps and goals for the domestic league. This means for me for German domestic leagues the top three levels (which are professional). For some players the third level is the highest they ever play, so I think we agree that if a player was mainly playing for the reserves, matches should be counted. But then we have different standards for different players: The match of FC Bayern Munich II against Jahn Regensburg would count as match for Diego Contento (who was playing for the reserves at that time) but not for for Luca Toni and in my opinion this is not correct. --Jaellee (talk) 20:37, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
- I've put the question up at WT:FOOTY. Maybe there will be more responses this time.--Jaellee (talk) 18:46, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
- I've also left my input there, and re-replied after you mistook one sentence of mine for poor manners (my reputation i think). Cheers - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 22:21, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

WP:FOOTY
[edit]About this (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football#Warms_the_heart), i think you are 200% right, it does not belong at WP:FOOTY and it's not the first time i do it, i do like to share some of my thoughts on things but, as you put it (again, thumbs up), this is not a forum.
The part that baffled me a bit, however was "You want to add it to Vilfort's article, go ahead, no one's stopping you", since i know you're on good terms with me i have no problem with it, just found it a little strange, all i was saying is it was a new thing which was not in the player's article, if IT WAS, i would not have retrieved it because i would assume most people would already have come accross it. All in all don't worry, i won't do it again, from now on, only stuff that relates to the "commission". Cheers - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:35, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- By the way, just did what i had to do instead of that foolish FOOTY approach, profitted from the source and went to Kim Vilfort's piece to try and improve it, i think it's neat. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:38, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- You don't have to apologize for anything, and yes misunderstandings have happened and will happen, all the time between all the people. And didn't i say i agree with you 200%? --Vasco Amaral (talk) 13:51, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Keep it up, regards - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 20:46, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
- I think only SANDRO played at amateur level, the others were full professionals, the most famous (other than BOSINGWA) being Nélson Marcos later of S.L. Benfica. Irony oh irony, the kid who got it worse was the one with the less economic resources, Sandro had to have his leg amputated :(

Re:El Jaish SC player
[edit]Hey :) I'm not quite sure about that player. I didn't even know he was Libyan until you told me. He played in more than one game last season, and scored at least one goal (although it was recorded as another player's goal). I also noticed that he is not on any football sites... El Jaish is secretive about most of their squad. I think he is a graduate of ASPIRE Academy (I could be wrong) and his name was spelled similar to "Dukali Al Sayed Dukali" on TV in a QSL match. I don't know if they added an extra Dukali by accident or not.
If it helps, his profile on KoraMania lists his name Al Dukali Sayed. It's the only site I could find which lists him. Try searching that name in Arabic? Gl. Elspamo4 (talk) 23:56, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Proposition
[edit]Hi there TONY, AL "here",
i know that there is a preference (i don't know if i should call it consensus) on templates that makes people insert first the national team ones and then the club ones. I don't think it is correct, the club is the most important stuff in a player's career, the one who pays him amongst other things; plus, many many many players that have solid club careers don't even EVER represent the national team.
Since i have stopped participating at WP:FOOTY (am trying to mellow out, just can't seem to do it yet :(), could you bring this forth at the forum? Even if it is a rule, it can be altered no?

Hi there TS, AL "here",
regarding your doubts about this player and his ethnicity, it might be plain VANDALISM. In Nélson Oliveira, a wise guy has been adding over and over again (as User:Zizozidan and anonymous) player is of Egyptian descent, which is 1500% FALSE.
I did not write it at WP:FOOTY because i thought you'd miss it, your question was asked almost three days ago. Happy week, keep it up - --AL (talk) 22:19, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Actually we've discussed this here on the Algeria talk page, here on the Algeria WikiProject page, and finally here at the NPOV noticeboard (also this is about a pagenotice). Despite the fact that French is unofficial, it is in de facto use by the government and has been extensively documented as an important language in Algerian society. According to NPOV, the question would be "is it important/widely spoken?" - I've documented a lot of research at Languages of Algeria and it's clear that despite the efforts of the Algerian government, French remains an important language in that country. WhisperToMe (talk) 06:17, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- Tony, firstly if you have a dispute it's best to leave the version with the consensus in and start a new discussion. I don't have a taste for edit wars and if somebody says "hey, there's a consensus for this!" and shows evidence the best thing to do is keep discussing and stop the edit warring.
- Secondly let's take a look at your edit summary - "when you add "Estados Unidos" to the USA article feel free to add French to Algeria. Again French is not an official language and the government has moved away from using it in official capacity. Arabic is the official language, Berber is the national one" - In fact the Algerian government officially says "French is not official" but in practice not all of the government departments have been Arabized. Several government departments still mainly use French, and provide Arabic translations. The research I did at Languages of Algeria says "Official documents of ministries which had not been affected partially or fully to Arabization are often written in French, and Arabic translations of these documents are provided when needed" (according to the Benrabah source). I am well aware of the political undercurrents of French vs. Arabic in Algeria.
- About the United States: Yes, the government has services for Spanish speakers, but they don't use Spanish internally in the federal government. All federal government departments operate with English internally (and the U.S. has no official language). The Algerian government has some Arabized government ministries, but many are not Arabized and in reality use French. So the Algerian government still uses French, and the "non-official" status is a formality.
- My text which sources Benrabah: ""Arabization is either complete or almost complete" in the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and registry offices in Algerian town halls.[22] He also said that the Ministry of Education had been affected to a "lesser extent."" - So there are other ministries left which continue to use French.
- Also we have Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names) which says "Relevant foreign language names (one used by at least 10% of sources in the English language or is used by a group of people which used to inhabit this geographical place) are permitted." - So that means we do not only list official languages.
- If you still disagree with including French, within 24 hours I am going to ask you to go on the NPOV noticeboard, make a new post, address Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view/Noticeboard/Archive_39#Listing_languages_of_a_country_and_NPOV:_Algeria_and_the_French_language, and say why you think the NPOV solution is to exclude French. If not, I am going to do it for you. Thank you.
- WhisperToMe (talk) 00:15, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
It's been 24 hours. Since you didn't make the post, I made one at Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view/Noticeboard#Languages_of_Algeria_and_point_of_view_.28part_2.29 - I invite you to join the discussion. Next time, please read previous discussions. If you have difficulty, ask for clarification. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:40, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
- Unfortunately nobody has yet answered the inquiry. In the meantime, would you please explain how your view of abolishing French complies with the NPOV view of listing languages? WhisperToMe (talk) 22:49, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- Since there is no response I assume you agree with what I say. WhisperToMe (talk) 04:21, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
- You said: "No, I don't agree with you what you say, I just don't have time for bureaucratic nonsense and discussions" - Tony, you are going to have to make a choice. Either participate in the "bureaucratic nonsense and discussions" or do not interfere in any edits that add French. There are many editors other than you, and the discussion process is how disagreements are resolved. If one chooses not to participate in the discussion process and edits against consensus, it may lead to the user's account being blocked. Also NPOV is a non-negotiable aspect and editing against the consensus of what the NPOV is and not explaining why you believe your position is NPOV may also lead to a block. WhisperToMe (talk) 18:35, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
- Well, a requirement to edit Wikipedia is engaging in collaborative editing. Did you think you can get away with engaging in collaborative editing without participating in endless discussions? :) - And, look, I understand newbies find trouble with long talk page discussions. I understand this is a problem. However, Tony, you aren't a newbie so you should understand what I am saying, right? In other words "bureaucratic nonsense and discussions" is a fact of life on here. [edit]Hi Tony, any reason why you deleted the Le Havre II entry from the infobox? GiantSnowman 09:28, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- But we don't exclude league stats from amateur leagues from the infobox if they can be reliably sourced. LHII played in the CFA which is, I believe, the top-level of amateur football in France. The stats are sourced to Soccerway - please do not delete sourced content again. If you need to, please re-raise the issue at WT:FOOTY but in the meantime I invite you to add the stats back. I just had a hell of a lot of trouble cleaning up this player's article, hopefully you and WP will like it. However, I found a problem in his international goals chart: in the game against Senegal (28 August 1983), when we click in the match report of the 2-0 home win it leads you to the 1-1 away draw. I browsed DZFOOT.com to try and find the correct match report, and did, but cannot retrieve the actual url don't know why, only the site's address is available even when I click in the match (ARG 2-0 SEN).
Can you help out here, please? All the best, happy editing --84.90.219.128 (talk) 03:31, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Respect other people's work, please. This simple search has a LOT of articles who call him only RACHID. RESPECT, R-E-S-P-E-C-T other people's work. When he leaves Spain (and only WHEN), then you can call him whatever they'll call him in other countries. Until that, he's known as RACHID and will stay that way. MYS77 ✉ 00:54, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Where's your goddamn sources, then? You didn't bring ANY! Sporting's official web, the search that I brought to you earlier, BDFutbol, Marca, Mundo Deportivo... ALL of them call "Ait-Atmane" only "Rachid". Accept the fact, instead of calling other people's hard work "biased". You edited the guy once or twice a year, while I was the one who bring all the info together. Show some respect, please. MYS77 ✉ 01:28, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
(TPS)Hi, formerly known as AlwaysLearning here. Please people, be cool, no need for all this heat. Tony, I do see MYS's point, he has been playing more in Spain than in France so far, and they call him Rachid there. In all fairness, it's hard to choose a better "naming approach", as BRA/POR/SPA treat players by their first name more often than not, but MYS has provided several reliable sources has he not? I think an agreement can be reached by you two, wish you an amicable exchange of views.
Cheers to both --84.90.219.128 (talk) 01:40, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Hello again TS (AL "speaking),
I don't know if you do that on a regular basis, but it is wrong. What, you may ask? Valdo (in this case) does not merit the MC ALGER MANAGERS category or the club's squad template, as he was only assistant manager to Artur Jorge during his spell. That stuff is only for head coaches.
Attentively, regards from Portugal --84.90.219.128 (talk) 14:18, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
More now in Algerian football(ers): I am now working on the utter mess that is Sofyane Cherfa, and in his international career section, found two things I wish I would not have: 1 - the two DZFOOT refs are dead; 2 - a bit of that storyline said he was part of the Algerian squad at the 2008 Summer Olympics, a bit "difficult" as Algeria did not even participate in the tournament!
After I finish cleaning up the piece, do you think you can add something to his INT'L CAREER section. Please, do correct also if you need to. Thanks again, take care --84.90.219.128 (talk) 02:28, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Stade 20 Août 1955 (Bordj Bou Arréridj)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Stade 20 Août 1955 (Bordj Bou Arréridj) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Invite to the African Destubathon
[edit]Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about JS Kabylie in Africa
[edit]Hello, TonyStarks,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether JS Kabylie in Africa should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/JS Kabylie in Africa .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Islam Slimani
[edit]Hi, Algeria vs Mauritania in 2013 is not an official full FIFA international friendly it's a local A' match. Algeria played with all local based players. Please stop changing it ! I added links in the player's page. Regards. --Fayçal.09 (talk) 16:41, 14 November 2020 (UTC)
- Salam alikoum (hi), The match was a freindly game of Algeria A' (local team) to prepare the 2014 African Nations Championship qualification. These are two of many links to proove that the game is not a full A match[4][5]. Regards.
- Right but it was considered as a full FIFA international friendly by FIFA. It does not seem like you understand how FIFA matches work, so please refrain from making changes. TonyStarks (talk) 22:02, 14 November 2020 (UTC)
Your recent editing history at Islam Slimani shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Looking for input on a draft article on footballer Noah Eisenberg
[edit]Hi Tony, I’m reaching out because I see you contribute to a lot of articles about footballers. I do not, but I’ve just written one that is still in draft space and I’d appreciate some feedback. Full disclosure, I often do paid editing, but I am not acting as a paid editor in this case. Noah Eisenberg reached out to me after a disreputable Wikipedia editing company failed in an attempt to create an article. I see that there are many players on this level that have been deemed notable. And since I don’t like seeing anyone get ripped off, I’ve created an article about him.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Noah_Eisenberg
Could you take a look at the draft article and let me know what you think? I wanted to have an opinion or two before I moved it to the main space. Thanks for your help and also let me know if it would be okay to mention you on the talk page if you agree on notability. SBCornelius (talk) 21:29, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
The article Amor Kehiha has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Doesn't pass WP:NFOOT or WP:GNG; google turns up mostly databases and wikipedia mirrors
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. asilvering (talk) 01:55, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

The article Khalifa Ghedbane has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Dr vulpes (💬 • 📝) 21:45, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Welsh people of Tunisian descent
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Welsh people of Tunisian descent indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 07:10, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
