Golf infoboxes
Please specify how many "other tour" wins a player has in the infobox. You seem to neglect this stat whenever you add an infobox. Thanks, michfan2123 (talk) 15:14, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- As stated on the template talk page, I personally think the field is unnecessary, adds nothing and only the main tour wins should go in the infobox. In a vast number of cases the other wins are incomplete anyway (you will find I have added many to Scandinavian players in particular), missing many mini-tour events, regional tournaments, etc. For older players, records are even more sketchy, and stating an arbitrary figure in the infobox would be misleading. wjematherbigissue 15:40, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- A win is a win, they should still be in the infobox, reguardless of what tour the win was on. Something else could be done for the golfers with incomplete win lists but thats a minority of players on wikipedia. michfan2123 (talk) 15:44, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree. Total wins covers it, there is no need to highlight they are other wins, especially if there are no major tour wins. As I am going through European Tour players, there are rather a lot that are incomplete. It is reasonably difficult to find records for the European Circuit pre 1970, and the likes of the Caribbean Tour, Safari Tour, and defunct Asian, South American and third tier European tours for example, despite many of the top players competing on them. Likewise, it is unnecessary to state wins=0. When it is clear that a list is incomplete I would go with ">x" or "over x". wjematherbigissue 15:54, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

There is a reason that there is a spot in the infobox for other wins. They should be listed. I agree that we shouldn't state wins=0. michfan2123 (talk) 16:18, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- I created the infobox, and erred on the side of inclusion with the fields to ease transition to a template replacing the ad-hoc tables in use previously. There are also fields for spouse, partner, children, but these are generally left blank. Sorry, you aren't going to convince me it is necessary, but you are free to fill them in if you so wish, and I certainly won't be reverting you.
- There is one issue though. When a player has zero major tour wins the "wins by tour" title banner does not appear and the field is titled "Major tour wins" which is obviously wrong – see Scott Henderson (golfer) clearly exaggerating the status of the Tartan Tour . Presumably, you will want to change this? wjematherbigissue 16:42, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
I have never seen this happen before, I don't know why it says major tour wins instead of other wins like it usually does. michfan2123 (talk) 17:31, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
2009 Open Championship
Just wondering, are you certain that Tiger Woods's ball got lost in heavy rough? On TV it seemed like that it went into the lateral hazard left of the hole, if not out of bounds. Thanks, Pinkgirl34 12:11, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Replied at user's talk page. Yes, certain. It is all fully referenced. See day 2 - as it happened, the relevant entries are from 16:57 though 17:16. Regards. wjematherbigissue 12:36, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, I see now. -- Pinkgirl34 00:50, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Tagging for speedy deletion
Hi there. Please remember not to substitute deletion templates as you did on Sam Burge. Regards SoWhy 10:30, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sure. Can't understand how you declined speedy deletion though. Notability is not conferred by association. wjematherbigissue 10:43, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- A7 is not about notability (a very common mistake unfortunately). Any indication of possible importance or significance is enough and playing for a notable club serves as such. Regards SoWhy 11:05, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Good to know. Will AfD in future. Thanks. wjematherbigissue 11:16, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- You are welcome. If you need any other help, don't hesitate to ask. :-) Regards SoWhy 11:17, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
2010 Open Championship
Wjemather, i was wondering why the field is still in place for the 2010 US Open Championship, yet was removed from the 2010 Open. Eddie6705 (talk) 13:01, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
- Wouldn't know, as I haven't looked into it. If the criteria have not yet been announced, it probably should not be included either. wjematherbigissue 13:24, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
- Ok. I'll wait until the R&A announce the criteria, or the website is updated. Eddie6705 (talk) 13:33, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

The Open Championship 2014
All I will say is you'll see and at the same time look very foolish for removing what is a solid edit in respect of the upcomming announcement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.208.34.226 (talk) 21:10, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
Template:Infobox Golfer
- Discussion moved to Template talk:Infobox Golfer#Significant wins
I was just wondering could be include a section for other significant wins and put into that section the Players Championship, Tour Championship, WGC Events, and the FedEx Cup and the European tour counterparts to list the years like in the major championship ones? This would be similar to the tennis infobox.BLuEDOgTn 23:23, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- I am going to go try this now, and we'll see...BLuEDOgTn 18:09, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- It is entirely unnecessary. The majors are all that is needed, as agreed when the infobox was created, otherwise where would you stop? Also, what the tennis infobox does is irrelevant. wjematherbigissue 18:12, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Your are correct, and I agree!BLuEDOgTn 18:18, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Hey why don't we take out spouse and partner out of the infobox and the children as well because it is not meritorious to their respective golf careers!BLuEDOgTn 18:17, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Please read the relevant guidelines with regard to infoboxes, such as WP:IBX. By the way, I've moved this discussion to the infobox talk page (see section hatnote). wjematherbigissue 18:22, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Hello, go look at the presidents cup boxes that I made, and tell me what you think of them. The international ones I had to use the flags for each player because it is multiple flags. I did this along with User:Armbrust. Have a nice day, and I am hoping you are liking your new JOB.BLUEDOGTN 23:48, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Flags
Don't talk nonsense. Just read WP:Bold. If I would have reverted User:Tewapack revertion's of my edits, than it would be wrong. Since I haven't done that.... Garion96 (talk) 10:04, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello, this is a representative from the Royal Trophy, and we would first of all like to thank you for maintaining our article in Wikipedia.
As we have new information on the tournament, is it possible for us to work together to revise the article or to create a new one? We would like to share this information with you and the public.
I look forward to hearing from you, and hope that we can work together closely soon.
Thank you.

Updates to Caddie_(CAD_system)
Hello. I've made extensive changes to Caddie_(CAD_system), added some references, added a few facts, removed a bit of advertising :-) and removed factoids that I could not find references for. I also need your opinion on the features (see the article's Talk page). I used Caddie 4 when I studied civil engineering in 1992, but I'm not an engineer now, so I'm not the ideal person to write about Caddie's feature set. Thanks. -- leuce (talk) 08:02, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

This bet does exist and is not made up. I edited to reflect its regional nature. Golf is such that different regions all have their own games; in South Florida we have the Tony. I personally saw Els bet on the Tony during a pro-am. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thefiman (talk • contribs) 14:43, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- I am unable to find any reference to it anywhere. Do you have any reliable independent sources? Wikipedia cannot account for every game that someone has invented, it must be sourced. wjematherbigissue 17:33, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Manual of Style
Thank you for your concern, but I am, indeed, familiar with the Manual of Style. I would advise you to both consult and look beyond the Manual and into the flow of the English language. It is regarding this that I made my only correction of something that you wrote. In an attempt to be helpful, I will cite the specific correction I traced to you on the article regarding golf balls. You added "Canadian long drive champion, Jason Zuback broke..." As an intelligent individual, you will be able to acknowledge for me that the comma is unnecessary, as without "the" preceding "Canadian," "Canadian long drive champion" becomes an improper title lacking the need for a comma, thus "Canadian long drive champion Jason Zuback broke..." If the previously mentioned "the" were not absent, a second comma would be necessary following the surname, as well as drawing into the conversation which institution had granted Mr. Zuback his title, making it improper for this article.
This is the only article we have altered in common prior to today. You are, sir, wrong, and stalking every article that I may correct will not fix this. If you have any questions regarding a correction I have made, feel free to come to me with logic and reason rather than an assertion of authority and a vague referral to a governing text.
Kindest regards and the best wishes for your holidays.

Update
I did review the Manual and I noticed that yes, you are correct regarding my use of punctuation within quotations. I made the dangerous assumption that Wikipedia operated along the same guidelines I was taught in high school and college. I must say that the rules put forward in the manual are strange, and would not fly in a professional environment here. However, I do stand by my statements regarding the alteration you made to the quote above. The reason I say all this and leave my original post unchanged is because I wish to convey to you my humility as well as a lack of need for an excuse. My apologies, changes will be made, and, still, kindest regards and best wishes for your holidays. These posts may be removed as clean-up.
