Bosnian/Serbian

He he can be Bosnian player when he never played for Bosnian national team? He is a Serb born in Bosnia where his father (army officer) was stationed, he fled from Bosnia to Serbia at the beginning of war. He was part of Yugoslavia/Serbia and Montenegro NT (was part of the team that won gold medal in Indianapolis, somebody deleted this part from the article). Even simple Google query will confirm that he is Serbian basketball player. We are dealing with vandal(s), not with people who might have different POV. -- Bojan  Talk  03:21, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

About the education section

Spud Webb

Hi there, I posted the Daily Show reference which I believe you subsequently removed. I'm new to editing so please bear with me. I believe this is important because it reflects Spud Webb's significance in the culture at large. I had never heard of him, and when I heard this comment on the Daily Show, I wanted to understand what was being said. Once I read about Webb, the comparison to Jon Stewart made perfect sense, even though the two work in completely disparate media. Is this the right place to respond to your response to me? If not, please let me know how to do it. I understand what you're saying about Spud Webb getting lots of media references. But this one seemed noteworthy to me, because it was it a completely non-sports context - hence showing his work has a wider cultural significance. I'm always interested in cultural phenomena that cross typical boundaries and have wider meaning. So for example, on many Wiki pages, you will find lists of the cultural impacts of things, or their legacy, where references to those things show up in completely different contexts than originally intended. I personally find those kinds of cross-cultural impacts very interesting, and have spent a lot of time reading sections like these on Wiki pages, even for topics I'm only casually interested in.

Perhaps the Daily Show reference should have gone in a section like that, rather than as an external link?Serena Angel (talk) 05:07, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

I didn't delete the file myself; someone else did that. But I removed the picture from the article because it didn't appear to be a free image. We can't just use anything that comes from the internet. Most of those pictures are copyrighted. Zagalejo^^^ 06:00, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for your revert on the Luol Deng article where I referenced to Bleacher Report. I had never seen that website, so I wasn't fully aware of the nature of its content and its reliability. Anyway, I already added another source for the same statement. Feel free to check it out to see if it's okay now. I've also expanded some of the sections of each season for Deng. Thanks again! Can you help me with the Nick Calathes article?

There is so much editing there that is like, "Nick is like so awesome he is the best player ever", and like, "In 2009 he was play good and get and make 2 steal in astonishing game verse Spain" - Also, a lot of things like listing awards won as, "Nick was 4th best in steals", "Nick was third best vote getter." "Nick was best player in game against Panellinios, Iraklis, Peristeri, Ilisiakos, Aris, etc." - And half of the edits are not Wikified at all either, not to mention that they have awful grammar. Then there would be places where there would be unexplained extra spaces for no reason between paragraphs, and then places where there should be a space for grammar and yet was no space. Like edits like, (2009,2010)2010,2011 and other strange edits. I tried my best to go through the article and clean it up, but I am sure I missed some things and probably there are still some problems. But the article was so bad and it was taking forever to fix it. Anyway, because of this, I was wondering if you could watch that article and prevent such edits happening in the future? The people that have been editing it have been doing a really bad job with awful grammar and non-encyclopedic edits like, "Nick is awesome". I really think that article needs to be watched and even if the bad editing does not stop, it should probably be semi-protected for awhile. Adding coach gives a better description, and should serve as the main page due to the fact that he is the only basketball coach by the name of Mike Brown. Well thank you for enlightening me on the subject. Then I suppose the redirect page Mike Brown (basketball coach) should be deleted, due to it redirecting to Mike Brown (basketball, born 1970).

Hey....me again I think a simple solution to this problem would be that Mike Brown (basketball, born 1970), which in my opinion is an odd name for a Wiki page should be moved to Mike Brown (basketball coach). But I know you have a problem with this, so at the very beginning of the article, this should be added: "This article is about the head coach. For the retired player and assistant coach, see Mike Brown (basketball, born 1963)." Which is already in place there. Let me know what you think, if this is not acceptable to you just let me know. Jason Kidd (early life)

Why do you continue to undo my minor adjustments? Those of us who have gone to school with Jason, grew up with him & interact with him know how proud he is to be from Oakland, CA and how much love he has for his elementary school St. Paschal Baylon. The current bio listed for him places far too much emphasis on his being born in the city of San Francisco. I merely adjusted a few words to take the focus off of his birthplace & redirect towards his hometown. Please respect that. Depth chart of Olympiacos B.C.

Is there any way that you can watch that or that you can make it where only user names and not IPs can edit that page (if you can do that)? Because on that depth chart of Olympiacos B.C., anonymous IPs are always changing the depth chart to incorrect versions. They insist on putting the team's starting point guard (Spanoulis) as the team's starting shooting guard. I don't know why they keep doing this, but they do, and it has gone on for about a year. Spanoulis spent the entire season as the starting point guard of Olympiacos B.C., and yet he is always put at shooting guard on that page's depth chart. If you fix it, an anonymous IP (many different ones as well) will quickly change it. I edited it again and said if it continues that I will remove the depth chart and put it for discussion, because it is clearly not right. I don't see how the player that plays point guard every single game, is always listed at shooting guard in the depth chart. It is like if you did a depth chart of the Phoenix Suns and every time Nash was listed as the shooting guard. It makes no sense. There must be a few people using just their IP address that keep doing that on purpose. The depth chart should just be removed if they want to keep switching the positions of the players from what they actually are. Because, basically, it is false information. Hmm. According to the SPI it was based on behavioral evidence (which seems pretty convincing). I may have been confusing it with another unblock I also recently declined where someone was requesting a checkuser. About a year ago, I (Marakashotyme) created a Wikipedia page for Juaquin Hawkins. I spent a lot of time on it to make it factual and detailed. I recently visited the page that I created to find that all of my work was essentially gone. I looked back on the revision history and saw that you are the one who edited the article to almost nothing. I don't remember specifically why, but it looks like a lot of material was unsourced. Also, some parts were rather poorly written (although those contributions came from another editor, it seems). Thanks Zagalejo. I suppose I just should tune it all out -- that's what my wife suggests. But the Wikipedia page is such a prominent hit, I can't let it end with me being a wife-beater. It's strange, last time I went through this -- years ago -- there wasn't this demi priesthood of Wikipedians debating policy like cardinals during the Inquisition discussing whether I needed to be buried or burned. I contributed something to Wikipedia -- even though I feel like I'm digging the grave of professional journalism. The town of Fiesole is in Robert Browning's "Andrea del Sarto:" -- I went to Wikipedia to learn what I could about it, and its appearance in the poem wasn't mentioned. I thought it should be there, so added a line. I admit, I was proud of that. Since it wasnt documented, I wonder if these are one of the customized changes LOL did for you? And would anyone be using it? If they are, it will literally show "both" next to League in the box. The career stats heading are displayed fine though.—Bagumba (talk) 06:05, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

I can't remember how that came about. A few months ago, I went through a bunch of articles to add the "stats league" field, and I do remember seeing a few pages where both was being used (and being displayed in the actual infobox). In most cases, I did try to replace both with "ABA and NBA" (or "NBA and ABA".) I might have missed a few, though. I think User:Xaviersc might have used the both feature occasionally. TMZ can be used as reliable source. The website is run Harvey Levin, a former lawyer who will not allow anything to be put on his website without it being proven right. Flashback to June 25, 2009 at about 4:45 CST, when TMZ was the first to report that Michael Jackson had been pronounced dead, they were also the source CNN and other national news stations used to report the death. Twitter can also be used as a reliable source as well, but ONLY acounts from known experts on the topic being discused. I'm not sure but it should be. I think for now, we should let TMZ be allowed in articles because I don't think it gets more reliable then TMZ.
