Matt has been the full-time conductor for the Honolulu Symphony Pops since 1998. Matt conducts, performs and does 90% of the arrangements and orchestrations played by the orchestra. Unique to the Honolulu Pops is his ability to completely arrange and orchestrate all of the music for artists who do not have an existing orchestra "book". This allows him to bring in world-class artists singers and musicians to take advantage of the one-of-a-kind opportunity to sing supported by a live orchestra. Rosemary Clooney performed the last concert of her career with the Honolulu Symphony Pops. This concert was recorded in 2002 in a tribute to the artist, and marked the first CD recorded by the Symphony Pops. Largely self-taught, Matt began learning the piano at age seven before switching his concentration to the alto saxophone at 16. A year later, he was asked to play at the Monterey Jazz Festival. At 18, Matt became the youngest member of the Louie Bellson Big Band, where he debuted his arranging career with his composition Explosion!, which made it onto the band’s next CD. In 1983, age 21, Matt formed the Matt Catingub Big Band, securing the services of his mom as featured vocalist on the first album, “My Mommy and Me.” The album brought Matt and the band world popularity, culminating with a Royal Variety Performance for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip in New Zealand. Matt’s sophomore album, Hi-Tech Big Band, released in 1984, was a technological achievement: he recreated the sound of a big band by playing every instrument himself on different tracks. In the following years, education became an important part of Matt’s musical career. He led the jazz ensembles program at the Grove School of Music in LA and became the director of the New Zealand Youth Jazz Orchestra, and a clinician for Yamaha, regularly giving concerts and clinics. In 1999 Matt introduced his new band Big Kahuna And The Copa Cat Pack. Matt fronted the 12-piece band singing and playing, combining elements of Big Band and Hawaiian "Hapa-Haole" music into a unique package. The band released three albums, the last of which, called Sentimental Journey, and featuring Rosemary Clooney, was released in 2001 and received a Grammy nomination in 2002. Matt crossed over into the film business when his music was heard in the Oscar-winning film A Beautiful Mind. Most recently, Matt wrote the music for George Clooney’s Goodnight and Good Luck. The movie features Matt's arrangements and tenor sax, as well as on-screen appearance as the leader of the band. The soundtrack went on to win a Grammy in 2005. O soft embalmer of the still midgnight, Shutting, with careful fingers and benign, Our gloom-pleas'd eyes, emobwer-d from the light, Enshaded in forgetfulness divine: O soothest Sleep! if so it pleases thee, close In midst of this thine hymn my willing eyes, Or wait the "Amen," ere thy poppy throws Around my bed its lulling charities. Then save me, or the passed day will shine Upon my pillow, breeding many woes,-- Save me from curious Conscience, that still lords Its strength for darkness, burrowing like a mole; Turn the key deftly in the oiled wards, And seal the hushed Casket of my Soul. History[edit]Thrive was founded by Electronic music pioneer Ricardo Vinas as a joint venture with Sire/Warner Bros. Records, a label which was owned by legendary A&R man Seymour Stein. In 1998, the record label was already growing into a huge success after the release of the soundtrack to Darren Aronofsky's award-winning independent film PI and DJ mix series Global Underground. This allowed Thrive's roster to quickly allow the most up and coming artists in the Electronic music world to sign to the label. Thrive has also released soundtracks for movies such as Memento, Reqiuem for a Dream, Swordfish, Confidence and many more. In 2005, Thrive was signed by the Sony/BMG label and then signed Foo Fighters' drummer Taylor Hawkins and his solo band the Coattails Riders, Thrive has turned into an alternative rock promotion as well. The following year, the label receieved it's first two Grammy nominations for electronic music duo Deep Dish. See also[edit]Sources[edit] |

Sources[edit]66.9.60.60 (talk) 15:53, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply] The Great Depression: America, 1929-1941 is a 1984 novel by acclaimed historian Robert S. McElvaine. In the cleometric work, McElvaine discusses the causes and the results of the worst depression in American history, covering the time from 1929 to 1941. McElvaine's focus is mostly on economics. McElvaine received high praise his work. Arthur Schlesinger Jr. called it "fair-minded, incisive, thoroughly informed, and eminently readable." In The New York Times Book Review, Morris Dickstein wrote "It would be hard to find a fairer or more balanced account of how the American people and their leaders learned to grapple with their greatest economic crisis."[1] References[edit]

First single by New Zealand comedy pop duo Flight of the Conchords. It appears on their 2007 EP, The_Distant_Future, and will also be included on an upcoming full-length release by Sub-Pop Records. The song was first aired on television on the HBO series pilot episode after group member Jemaine sees Sally from across the room at Dave's party. Jemaine details his seduction of Sally, describing her as being so beautiful she could be a "part-time model". The musical style of this song is intended to mimic the music of Prince. To join, one must have: 1. An Xbox Live account. 2. An Xbox 360 3. A copy of Halo 3. From there, you are required to pass a basic test in order to be a full fledged member, conducted by appointed trainee staff. After that, other tests and 'schools' are offered if a trainee wishes to advance in rank or hold a higher postition. The Anstice Brigade is organized into Battalions, wich are then subdivided into companies, platoons, and squads (not including the SP-IV Razgriz Special Operations Battalion). 20th Marine Battalion[edit]The 20th Marine Battalion is where a trainee is first placed after initial joining. After taking Basic Training and Helljumper School, one has the decision to stay as a 'Marine', or be placed in an ODST Battalion. 502nd ODST Battalion[edit]The 502nd ODST Battalion was the first ODST battalion in the brigade. The 502nd only accepts top recruits, and makes up the bulk of the Anstice Brigade. 101st ODST Battalion[edit]The 101st ODST Battalion started out as an individual clan, but at the the decision of (at the time) Major kokiri and Captain Spartan 472, the 101st was assimilated into the Brigade as an ODST battalion, and is currently filling out it's ranks. SP-IV Razgriz Special Operations Battalion[edit]The Razgriz Spec-Ops Battalion (also known as the 'Spartan IV's', are the elite of the Brigade. Through a rigourous series of tests designed to discourage all but the best, the Spartan IV's are known to pull astonshing wins out of what almost seemed to be crushing defeat. Note: I would like to know who wrote this article. I am a member of the (UNSCDF) Anstice Brigade and we notably agreed not to make a wiki on our clan. We are grateful for commending us but this obviously was made by one of our members who we would like to know which one. Thank you. Sources[edit]Sources[edit]
