Unlike other pages by the same creator, Barberville is noted on USGS maps. But it doesn't seem to have been a community in any sense of the word: there were never more than a handful of houses, and the only mentions I can find in sources are of the dam rather than the village. As such, it fails WP:GEOLAND. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:44, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • According to the USGS, there was a Barberville P.O. for two years. Per 1901998: History: Established in 1854. Discontinued in 1856. Citation: Gallagher, John S. The Post Offices of Rhode Island. Burtonsville, Maryland: The Depot, 1977. p23, and FWIW 1217896. • Gene93k (talk) 23:00, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Another comment: Google Books has a second hand mention as a village in Hopkinton. The self-published 1868 family history book [1] includes an 1865 (state?) census of Washington County (population 48). No objection to a redirect to Hopkinton, Rhode Island. • Gene93k (talk) 00:04, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep: I added some cites in five minutes of looking. It is listed in 1880 U.S. Census and and an various places as a small village/hamlet.--Milowenthasspoken 16:28, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Evidence found by Milowent and others show Barberville as a historic village of Hopkinton, Rhode Island. Even if the stub falls short of a strict reading of WP:GEOLAND for a stand-alone article, it is notable detail missing from the rather sparse Hopkinton page. The content can use a copy edit, though. • Gene93k (talk) 16:53, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
