- Tagged with {{PD-Pre1978}}, but there's no evidence of pre-1978 publication without a copyright notice. This was tagged with {{npd}}, but that process is meant for allegedly freely-licensed images or intentional PD releases, not images like this that are claimed to have fallen into the public domain without the intention of the copyright holder. - FWIW, I've always interpreted "evidence of permission" a little more broadly than you have described, to mean any case where it is not 100% clear that it is permissible for us to use the image freely. Thus lack of evidence that an image has actually passed into the public domain to me = lack of evidence of permission. SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:23, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Speedily renominating after neutral close due to out-of-process !votes fouling the discussion after a relist, causing it to be fragmented.
Original nomination by Angus McLellan was: "Image was tagged replaceable fair use, but an objection was raised so it may as well be discussed here. Case for replaceable seemed reasonable to me. Stifle's argument for replaceability was: "Replaceable by/redundant to the free textual description in the article. Also probable violation of WP:NFCC#2."
