Maps and info

[edit]
Notes:
  • Metro is doing maintenance this weekend on the red line (replacing a switch near the New York Avenue station), which means red line trains will be single tracking. There also will be single tracking on the Orange line near the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station. This means there will be some delays. Plan accordingly.

Metro stations are marked on the maps, along with the DC Circulator Bus route.

  • To get there from Metro's red line, you will have to change from the red line to the orange/blue line at Metro Center. You need to take the orange/blue line in the direction of Vienna.
  • To get there from Metro's green or yellow line, you should change to the orange/blue line at L'Enfant Plaza, and get the orange/blue line in the direction of Vienna.
  • If coming from Virginia, you can take either the orange or blue line directly to the Foggy Bottom station.
  • If you are coming from Union Station (or Georgetown), one option (possibly quickest/easiest) is to take the Circulator Bus - special red bus for tourists and anyone (costs $1, payable with cash or SmarTrip card). The bus comes every 10 minutes. If you do this, get off at 21st St (where it turns from K St, and then proceeds on Pennsylvania Avenue). The Circulator Bus route is marked on the maps.
  • If you drive, there is a parking garage at 2000 Pennsylvania Avenue, [1] or street parking can likely be found in this area on Saturdays. (not sure what the hours are for meters, but they might end at 6:30 pm on Saturdays; check to be sure when parking)
  • Here (pdf) is a GWU campus map, which shows individual buildings. Bertucci's is located in #97 on the map.

  1. I'm going to say I'm pretty sure I can make this one. SchuminWeb (Talk) 01:37, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  2. --Aude (talk) 02:25, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Kirill [pf] 23:17, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Pharos (talk) 14:33, 23 April 2009 (UTC) Sorry!--Pharos (talk) 07:59, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  5. I expect to -- I've been to all the ones in the past since I've known about them, but last-minute things can come up. -- BRG (talk) 02:17, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(comment) It's been a long time since I've eaten at Bertucci's. My recollection is that the food is very good, but on the expensive side.-- BRG (talk) 16:21, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  6. Shouldn't be a problem. See you all then. --rocketrye12 talk/contribs 02:51, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  7. I have zero practical experience editing Wikipedia pages, but I'd like to come and meet some experts! Alt-3 (talk) 02:00, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  8. Very likely; I've scheduled my real-world DC appointments for June the day before, which will help. Newyorkbrad (talk) 03:03, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  9. Yup, I will be there... --FeanorStar7 (talk) 11:09, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  10. Actually, it is a near certainty that I'll be able to make this. bd2412 T 23:16, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  11. Kat Walsh (spill your mind?) 19:05, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  12. Paul Robinson (Rfc1394) (talk) 19:27, 3 June 2009 (UTC) I'm thinking I'd like to go but the photo seems to indicate the restaurant is up a flight of stairs and is not handicapped accessible, is this the case? If so, then I can't go. Can someone find out and let me know before I go through a lot of trouble and effort to go and discover it's inaccessible?[reply]
My recollection is that it is downstairs, not upstairs, and there's an elevator. But this was years ago, and perhaps they've moved? -- BRG (talk) 22:15, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The restaurant is accessible. That's not the main entrance in the photo. The building is a mini shopping mall (with a CVS store), so the entrance is in the mall and we will be sitting downstairs. There is an elevator to the downstairs where we will be, so should be okay. --Aude (talk) 09:47, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Here's the wiki article about the building. --Aude (talk) 09:49, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  13. yes, (no world bank?) pohick - (talk) 23:24, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  14. Yes.
    --NBahn (talk) 10:43, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  15. Woah, I took too long of a wikibreak there - glad I logged in today. I'll be there, and I love Bertucci's. Stu (aeiou)I'm Researching Wikipedia 13:45, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  16. See you guys there! --Cyde Weys 17:57, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe

[edit]
  1. I can't confirm "YES" until late May. At this point in time, however, I am cautiously optimistic (although that doesn't that something will come up at the last minute, of course).
    --NBahn (talk) 02:29, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  2. If I have the time and money, as this would involve taking almost an entire day off and spending money on Amtrak/Greyhound. TML (talk) 01:12, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  3. It's entirely possible that I could come. I can't confirm anything yet. --Jnelson09 (talk) 23:05, 19 April 2009 (UTC) Update: If there's any chance of moving this back a week, I can definitely come. Otherwise, I'm out of luck. --Jnelson09 (talk) 16:13, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Preferably something really close to, or on the metro line; like Union Station. -- LightSpectra (talk) 23:10, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's pretty close to Foggy Bottom Station. -- BRG (talk) 22:17, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Like most of the above, quite likely but can't confirm yet. Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:18, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  5. As always: maybe! -- Gyrofrog (talk) 00:36, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  6. --MZMcBride (talk) 19:51, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  8. Probably, I hope. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 20:07, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  9. All day, eh? That certainly is a tempting window. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 01:27, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  10. I'm working evening shift (1600-0200) that day, but I will try to take leave...--It's me...Sallicio! 15:01, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  11. Kenosis (talk) 19:48, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Attending Apps for Democracy event

[edit]

Let us know if you are attending, and if you want to present. It's advised that you also rsvp on the Apps for Democracy event page. If you want to attend the entire event, that's good, but if you can/only want to attend in the afternoon, that's okay. We should at least have a group of us there in the afternoon. And, if you can only join the group for dinner, that's also okay.

Thanks, I added Rocketrye12 to the caption. Is that you, BD2412, 'hiding' in the back row in front of the framed poster? Perhaps that's your wife to your side? —ADavidB 04:28, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, we didn't make it into any photos at all (I don't remember one being taken - perhaps before we arrived?) bd2412 T 05:06, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Drat! I thought I'd gotten it before anyone got a chance to sneak away. SchuminWeb (Talk) 10:38, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I added myself to the caption (far right).--FeanorStar7 (talk) 11:09, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
