Dabljuh

[edit]

User:Dabljuh is an editor who typically edits from IP blocks based in Switzerland (including 80.218.2.0/24, 80.218.7.0/24, 217.162.113.0/24, 217.162.112.0/24) who has recently undergone a series of increasingly severe blocks for incivility and personal attacks. In the past couple of days, he has escalated the situation by editing while not logged in to circumvent the blocks; this has resulted in the blocks being extended. User:Socafan began editing Wikipedia on June 11th, shortly after it became apparent that Dabljuh was going to continue to be regularly blocked for his misbehavior. By his second day editing he was participating in discussions about Dabljuh on WP:AN/I. Given the timing of his registration and the editing pattern, I am a little concerned that this user may be a sockpuppet of Dabljuh. Of course, it could just be a coincidence, but given the lengths to which Dabljuh has gone to evade blocks before, I figured it was better to report it here and be safe than sorry.  Inconclusive. Socafan appears to be a distinct editor, editing from Germany, but I'm not familiar enough with the geography to know whether he could be using German IPs in Switzerland or Swiss IPs in Germany. Best advice is: If it smells like a sock, it probably is. Essjay (TalkConnect) 09:31, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am quite concerned about this comment: If it smells like a sock, it probably is. Ever heard of the benefit of the doubt? This in my eyes clearly shows that powers are in the wrong hands here. Furthermore, I find it a severe violation of users' privacy to write from which country they edit unless they reveal this themselves. Socafan 23:13, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, I ain't this guy and don't know who he is. User:Dabljuh 80.218.5.90 16:29, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't smell like a sock. Dab's pattern is quite consistent: he edits using other IP's but makes no attempt whatsoever to hide his identity. As you can see above, he even signs his posts with his name. Socafan is one of a number of people who question the validity of the current block on Dab, but his writing style does not match Dab's, either. In short, he's no sock.
