Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

Article: Ross Ulbricht (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

NeutraIInfo and WHS Dad are WP:SPA accounts with roughly a dozen edits between them focused solely on softening perceived unfavorable descriptions of controversial Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht, such as changing the description at the start of the lead from "convict" to "entrepreneur" (NeutraIInfo, WHS Dad). Both accounts use long well written edit summaries to describe what it is they are reverting or changing, which is desirable because it provides a window into an editor's reasons for an edit, but it's an obvious similarity and they both make reference to Wikipedia policies which tends to indicate these aren't really "new editor" accounts. The way the second account sets up minutes after creation (immediately creating a blank user page and user talk page to change red link to blue, and starting a sandbox page) also makes it seem unlikely for a brand new user. Given that the article is under 1RR restriction, the concern is that these accounts have been set up as sockpuppets or meatpuppets to prepare for tag teaming the article towards a point of view more favorable to the subject.
