Hechi (河池; Héchí) is a city and region in North Guangxi.

Understand

Hechi is a city dominated by ethnic minorities. It is at the foot of mountains and gives opportunities to watch karsts and forests. The actual city itself it named Jinchengjiang (金城江).

Get in

Hechi is two hours by bus away from Nanning. The central bus station is at 40 Jincheng East Rd, Jinchengjiang District.

Get around

Buses are priced at ¥2 per ride and can generally take you anywhere around the city. There are also local taxis and ride hailing apps like Didi Dache (滴滴打车).

  • Lihu. Town dominated by the Yao minority.
  • Muluojia Goddess Gorge.
  • Sanmenhai Ecological Tourist Zone. Karsts, caves and underground rivers.

Hiking is always a popular past time for the people of Hechi. Also, Hechi can get really hot in the summer so the local water park is a great idea to go and cool down.

There is a Bank of China at Jiefang East Rd, Jinchengjiang District. Baima Street (白马步行街) is one of the most recognised food and shopping street in Jinchengjiang.

Eat

Suanrou (酸肉), (螺蛳粉) and Guilin Noodles (桂林米粉) are staples of the local cuisine.

  • Gong Cha (貢茶), is a famous Taiwanese milk tea chain that has a branch in Hechi.
