Probably borrowed from Middle Russian Россі́ꙗ (Rossíja), Росі́ꙗ (Rosíja) or directly from Byzantine Greek Ῥωσσία (Rhōssía), Ῥωσία (Rhōsía), from Ῥῶς (Rhôs), from Old East Slavic Русь (Rusĭ).
