Russian
[edit]Noun
[edit]звѣзда́ • (zvězdá) f inan (genitive звѣзды́, nominative plural звѣ̈зды, genitive plural звѣ̈здъ)
- Pre-1918 spelling of звезда́ (zvezdá).
Usage notes
[edit]- звѣзда́ (zvězdá) is one of the few Russian terms in pre-1918 orthography in which a stressed ѣ (jě) is pronounced like the letter ё (jo). It is therefore written with a diaeresis in a similar fashion: ѣ̈ (jǒ). Note that this only occurs in certain inflections.
