Etymology

Inherited from Sanskrit अस्तमयन (astamáyana, setting (of sun)).[1] Cognate with Hindi अथमना (athamnā), Gujarati આથમણું (āthamṇũ, western), and Marwari आथण (āthaṇ, evening).
