Etymology

Unknown, probably shift from the then Kansai dialect いげちない (igechinai) or いげつない (igetsunai) during the Shōwa era.[1][2][3]

Alternatively, could be a shift from えぐっ()ない (egukkenai), which relates to えぐい (egui).[4]
