Usage notes
[edit]- While the reading is difficult due to the manuscript being a recently-discovered (2009) palimpsest, the suggestion by P. A. Kerkhof is followed by various experts (e.g. Schuhmann and Falluomini) and so far apparently unopposed by others.
- Renders Koine Greek αΌΟΟΟΟΟΞΏΟ (heΕsphΓ³ros) from the Septuagint.
- It is not entirely clear why the expected nominative -s is missing, but compare other names attested from Ostrogothic Italy such as π²πΏπ³πΉπ»πΏπ± (gudilub) and π πΉπ»πΎπ°ππΉπΈ (wiljariΓΎ), which suggests dialectal elision.
