Cognates include Old English hund, Old Norse hundr and Old High German hunt, and Ancient Greek ฮบฯฯ‰ฮฝ (kรบลn), which it translates (along with derived ฮบฯ…ฮฝฮฌฯฮนฮฟฮฝ (kunรกrion, โ€œlittle dogโ€)).
