Potentially a compound of either Old Dutch Huni (a personal name), *Huna (“Hun”) or Proto-Germanic *hun- (“brown, dark, honey-yellow”) and *sati- (“home, homestead”) with locative suffix *-ja-. The element Driel is a later addition. Compare Driel, Kerkdriel and Velddriel.
