- I have readded the etymology "(a) somehow related to Ancient Greek ὕβρις (hybris), “‘outrage’”)", sourced from Online Etymology Dictionary and Webster 1913, while mentioned by Century 1911 as a "very doubtful assumption" (“hybrid”, in The Century Dictionary […], New York, N.Y.: The Century Co., 1911, →OCLC.).
