[edit]Inherited from Old Swedish andadräkt (and earlier andadrät). By surface analysis, ande (“breath”) + dräkt (“draw; pull”). First attested in 1484.
Compare with Danish aandedræt, Norwegian andardraatt, anderdraatt, and Icelandic andardráttr, including Dutch ademtocht.
