    • 1956, Peter Scott, “Variability of annual rainfall in Tasmania”, in Papers and Proceedings of the Royal Society of Tasmania[1], volume 90, page 53:
In general pattern, the isanomal map showing the extent to which Tasmanian stations depart from the world mean of variability for all places with the same average rainfall confirms the map of relative variability.
    • 1986, Miloš Kužvart, Miloslav Böhmer, Prospecting and Exploration of Mineral Deposits:
The values of gravity acceleration obtained are plotted on Bouguer's isanomal map for geological interpretation.
  2. An isabnormal.
    • 1967, Richard J. Kopec, “Areal patterns of seasonal temperature anomalies in the vicinity of the Great Lakes”, in Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society[2], volume 48, number 12:
The usefulness of isanomal maps to climatological study and students of climate is varied and profound. By reducing the control of latitude on temperature to zero, the spatial patterns of thermal influence exhibited by other climatic controls such as altitude, continentality, etc., are more easily identified and analyzed.
