Inherited from Chagatai قیز (/⁠qï̄z⁠/), from Common Turkic *qï̄z, from Proto-Turkic *kï̄ŕ. Cognate with Uyghur قىز / qiz / қиз; Turkmen gȳz, Azerbaijani قیز / гыз / qız, Turkish kız (girl); Old Turkic 𐰶𐰃𐰕 (q̊²iz /⁠qïz⁠/); etc.
