Noun

[edit]

viri

  1. (proscribed) plural of virus

Usage notes

[edit]

In historical Latin usage, virus was apparently a singulare tantum with no plural form attested. In New Latin, the plural is formed as vira rather than viri or the still more erroneous virii.
