Lorenzo Araujo obtained his Medical Degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 1977. He received a bachelor degree in Modern Languages from Brooklyn College, in New York, 1984 and his training in General Psychiatry from Mount Sinai Medical School at Cabrini Medical Center in New York, 1990 to 1994. He completed his training in Geriatric Psychiatry from 1994 to 1996 at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He became certified on Substance Abuse from the American Board of Addiction Medicine, 2006 and from the Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, 2010. Since the year 2005 is Assistant Voluntary Clinical professor of Psychiatry in Oklahoma University School of Medicine and since 2009 Executive Director of the Substance Abuse Clinic at the Oklahoma City Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He has published in his native language, Spanish, a short stories book “Muertos Que Viven, Palibrio, USA 2013, some poems: “Un Breve Canto de Amor y Muchos Sueños” Suplemento Literario Listín Diario, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 1977; and a Literary Critique: “Dos Tiempos en la Evolución de los Mitos Indígenas en la Obra de Miguel Ángel Asturias” Suplemento Literario La Noticia, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic 1979.
