 1. El instrumento
El ukelele es un instrumento de cuerda pulsada que se ha popularizado
por su capacidad de acompañar con acordes y su precio asequible.
Es de origen portugués, pero se extendió por algunas islas del Pacífico.
Los hay de diferentes tamaños, el más pequeño es el más agudo.
Cada mano tiene su función: una coloca los acordes y la otra hace el
rasgueo.

Las cuerdas
Sol: la cuarta; no es la más grave, es más aguda que la segunda y la tercera.
Do: la tercera.
Mi: la segunda.
La: la primera; es la inferior.

Los acordes
Hay unos acordes que son los más utilizados. Los tres primeros muestran
una de las secuencias más usadas en la música occidental.

Los ritmos de la mano derecha
Hay muchos tipos de rasgueo. Los ritmos se indican con flechas para el
movimiento de rasgueo para arriba y para abajo.
Ejemplos de rasgueos en compás de 4/4.
Básico: con el pulgar.

Combinado: con el pulgar bajando y con el índice subiendo.

Calypso: igual que el anterior, pero con un silencio de corchea al empe-

zar el tercer tiempo.

Golpe sordo: con la mano dando un golpe a todas las cuerdas en el

tercer tiempo, como si se matara el sonido.

Subdivisiones ternarias: con la yema del pulgar o con todo el dedo.

El ukelele es un instrumento que se ha popularizado mucho, hay nume-
