Gladys Tejeda
Gladys Lucy Tejeda Pucuhuaranga is a Peruvian long-distance runner who has been
recognized as the best athlete in Peru. She has won 11 medals throughout her career since
2010.
First of all, Gladys excelled in various sports when she was just a child. However, while her
father rode a horse, she enjoyed running to the side and trying to beat him. Gladys studied
education and graduated as a professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Universidad
Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in 2007.
Then in 2010, she participated in the South American half marathon in Colombia and she won
the silver medal and in 2019 she won the gold medal at the Juegos Panamericanos in Lima
without the help of any company or the state.
In conclusion, Gladys Tejeda is an example for all Peruvians since she has shown us that
despite not having government support, she was able to progress and win many medals for
Peru. Additionally, she has always had exemplary behavior and from what I can constantly see
in the media and social networks she continues to train enough for her next competitions and in
the future she can win more medals. For all this, I believe that she is a successful woman and
she is my inspiration.
