TIE BACKGROUND
The Romans called a seal sail a form of lateen sail, which hung from the highest pole as a
pennant, and which had the shape of a colored tie. From that small sail he derived the jib or
triangular sail that flutters on the bowsprit. Its shape was exactly the same as that of the modern
necktie, although perhaps a little wider at the end.On the other hand, the Roman legionnaires
used the focale, as a scarf that they wrapped around their necks and dropped the walnut below
in the form of a bowtie, a functional garment created to avoid chafing on the neck.It didn't take
long for that utilitarian garment to have an ornamental or decorative value. But, in any case, the
tie has a military origin.
casaca”.
ORIGIN OF THE TIE
In the year 1600, it was used by Swedish troops, and towards the middle of that same century
it was already appearing in the military dress of one of the regiments of Louis XIV, of France: the
Croatian regiment. It was a simple colored scarf, tied around the neck with some grace that,
already in the 17th century, had achieved popularity, even establishing a specific ordinance in
which it was warned that it should look "well adjusted, tucked under the jacket or twisted and
tucked in." in a buttonhole of the coat”.
TIE IN SPAIN
In 1830, both in France and in Spain and Italy, the members of literary athenaeums, schools,
private clubs and gatherings had the tie as a distinctive: bowties or ties, each one of them
different. Also in a certain Madrid venue from the early 19th century, called "el bereadero or
campo de pinos" its regulars were distinguished by a tie with the ends dangling.Among
connoisseurs there was talk of oriental ties in the shape of a crescent, Byron ties with a huge
chin knot, cascading ties, in spout, lazy, romantic fashion...The fabric for its preparation was
taken as a transcendental matter: they were made to measure like the shirt, but they could
also be bought ready-made.But it was the romantics who consecrated its use. Barcelona
became fond of it first, as a more Parisian city then. The elegant men of the 19th century
wandered through its walks, with their currant ties and pale lilac trousers.A whole world of
accessories arose around her: pins, barrettes, buttons.
recientemente Ralph Lauren.
Ralph Lauren is not a clothing brand, it is a lifestyle brand, as its creator set the tone with the
iconic phrase "I don't design clothes, I design dreams."
Listed par excellence as America's classic luxury brand, Ralph Lauren became a fashion
benchmark thanks to its traditional and glamorous lifestyle focused on preserving and
revaluing Anglo-Saxon cultural heritage.
The famous designer whose brand bears his name fulfilled the true American dream: he owns
one of the most recognized and consumed brands not only in the United States, but
throughout the world.
This stubborn and success-focused mentality has been with him since he was little. Before
Ralph Lauren, there was Ralph Rueben Lifshitz, the youngest son of Russian Jewish parents
who immigrated to the United States and welcomed the designer on October 14, 1939 in a
New York Bronx neighborhood. When he turned 16, he changed his last name to Lauren.
With this new identity, he began his working life as a salesman at Brooks Brothers stores and
did not stop until in 1967 when he founded his own line of ties, Polo, under the wing of the
Beau Brummell factory. His men's designs began to become favorites at stores like
Bloomingdale's; so years later, he opened his own boutique and inaugurated his first women's
line where he also showed for the first time the iconic logo of the polo player on a horse.
“This company began over 50 years ago with a dream and a tie, and today, while it has grown
to become a leading luxury lifestyle brand, our idea of timelessness, authenticity and a life well
lived remains constant. ”, recently stated Ralph Lauren.
