Ribbed moraines are a common, but poorly understood landform within formerly glaciated regions. There are many competing theories for their formation. As such, this paper addresses some of these theories by taking modelled ice conditions and physical characteristics of the landscapes in which they form and, then comparing them to the location of ribbed moraines. Using this we can identify conditions where ribbed moraines are more often present, and therefore we identify the most likely theories.

We try to understand how the sediment supply from the upstream river reach affect the downstream river morphology using a numerical model. If the supplied sediment is composed of variety of size class of particles, a small size bed wave that is composed of mainly fine particles (sorting wave) can propagate to downstream very long distance. However, presence of bars suppresses the effect of sorting wave greatly, and thus the sediment supply has limited role in the downstream river morphology.

The use of new Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to learn how landscapes evolve is demonstrated. A few ‘snapshots' of an eroding landscape at different stages of its history provide enough information for AI to ascertain rules governing its evolution. Once the rules are known, predicting landscape evolution is extremely rapid and efficient, providing new tools to understand landscape change.

This publication presents a field study measuring sediment transport and wind velocities across a single dune, and provides an approximation of the annual volume of transported sediment for the entire dune systems on the East Frisian island of Spiekeroog. Data from the field study shows that sediment transport on a dune occurs deep into the vegetation. The approximation surpasses the actual volume changes of the dune systems as expected, with variations depending on the compared beach section.

Through field microseismic monitoring experiments of rivers, this study monitored and analyzed the dynamic vibration signals of river processes and acquired the physical characteristics of microseismic signals in river turbulence processes. A linear regression model was proposed to quantify the relationship between the average power spectral density (PSD) and river turbulence processes, thereby deriving a linear approximation model for the inversion calculation of river flow.

Rainfall caused mass landslides disaster in Mibei Village. Different types of landslides occurred in similar geologic settings, which triggered us to make the assumption that the residual layer thickness affects the landslide damage pattern. Therefore, we designed three slope models with different residual layer thicknesses for tests. The landslide damage patterns were summarized. The E1 slope is overall flow-slip damage; the E2 slope is traction sliding; the E3 slope is thrust-type slide.

This study examined climate-driven flood variability's impact on a sub-arctic river's morphology. Analysis of 32 years of data revealed that flood shapes significantly influence sediment transport. Rising temperatures and precipitation are increasing double-peaking floods, altering sediment dynamics and stability. These findings highlight the need for long-term monitoring and catchment-scale studies to address evolving hydroclimatic impacts and their implications.

This study establishes a methodology for the study of slow-moving rock glaciers in marginal permafrost and provides the basic knowledge for understanding rock glaciers in south east Europe. By using a combination of different methods (remote sensing, geophysical survey, thermal measurements), we found out that, on the transitional rock glaciers, low ground ice content (i.e. below 20 %) produces horizontal displacements of up to 3 cm per year.

Leaky wooden dams are a popular form of natural flood management used to slow the flow of water by increasing floodplain connectivity whilst decreasing connectivity along the river profile. By monitoring two leaky wooden dams in North Yorkshire, UK, we present the geomorphological response to their installation, highlighting that the structures significantly increase channel complexity in response to different river flow conditions.
